Hello Guys,

I love what I have seen here and I would love to add lighting to my Artemis games I have six of these lights and if I could get them to work that would be amazing.

http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Remote-Control-Waterproof-Different/dp/B005KYOE2Q/ref=sr_1_5?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1464720610&sr=1-5&keywords=10w+rgb+led+flood+light

I was wondering since these are controlled by remote has anyone figure out out how to have the computer send out a signal to the light to change color? I looked through the forums and there are lots of pug in lights but I have not seen anyone use the remote controlled ones.

Thanks for your help.

You will not be able to use those lights with Artemis; or at least not without some interesting mods anyway.

Artemis uses DMX which is a special signal that tells DMX enabled things what to do. In order for a light to receive the DMX signal they have to have a DMX input.

This light does not have a DMX input that I can see, just a remote control. not the same thing.

You should be able to use something like this however since it is DMX enabled.

There's a question and answers on that Amazon page at
http://www.amazon.com/forum/-/Tx7NZTOIW5K165/ref=ask_dp_dpmw_al_hza?asin=B005KYOE2Q

Specifically "it can only be controled by the ir remote" and "The circuit board is not soldered directly to the RGB led, so it can be easily removed and replaced with any 12v DMX controller with 3 or more channels. (or even an Arduino with a DMX shield.)"

So that model has no way to control it from a computer (using DMX or anything else) unless you do some rewiring yourself as in the second quote above.

Though the bit abput being able to wire it to a dmx controller is good info.

I've got a set of LED bars I picked up at Costco that are probably similar - the lights themselves are wired for 12V input, and any PWM controller (like a DMX controller) will be able to replace the built in controller to dim any given channel.  I grabbed one of the HolidayCoro dumb DMX controllers, but any should do the trick.
