I thought I'd share some WIP and (mostly) complete shots of a bridge (re?)build I did at the end of last year.  I basically had my home of twenty years get bought by a new owner and bulldozed, and that's put me in a bit of a depression from it.  It was a gaming house we called Gecko in Greensboro, NC, and we had the potential for three full bridges there. Gecko House had two set up pretty much full time, even if my bedroom had to convert a bit to run it.  The gaming shed (yeah, it was a thing) converted to the bring-your-own third bridge, and we had a full on computer room for the mid bridge.  Damn, I miss that house.

Basically, my funk needed to be cured by building a whole new bridge in my new place, even if it might be somewhat temporary.  Projects are good for the soul!

To that end, I've build some bridge consoles that are well planned, somewhat modular/ rearrange-able, and awesome looking.  It consists of three stations of two consoles each, plus a captain's podium and main screen mount.  The computers themselves are in the cabinets so each unit unscrews from it's base, and can be transported to a con (or new home when I get one) and reassembled with a minimum of reconnecting and other fuss.  Once there, they can be rolled on casters into whatever config we want.  The DMX lighting is built into the stations themselves.

Here's my 3D concept art.  The rest will follow somewhat in order. Concept.jpg

This is the smaller station size.  The one above was 6' long with the 3rd monitor in it.  It was a bit too big for the space.  The 4' should work better for the other stations.

The computers hide out in back.  Basically, it's a giant case mod.  😉

Start of what will become the Captain's podium.  It's also the biggest of the lights.

Starting in on the main screen mount.  I can't put holes or tape on the walls here, and it's kinda killing me.

Time passed without much picture taking.  This is a beauty shot minus the engineering and fighter stations that haven't been built yet.  I had to make a pretty pic though.  😉
