Hi All,

Been testing my new DMX setup using a Windows 10 Dell Laptop and got it working a treat (ENTEC OPEN DMX https://www.enttec.com/uk/products/controls/dmx-usb/open-dmx-usb/)

No problem on that Laptop or my home gaming PC.

Just built a new ARTEMIS server dedicated to the job and when I put the same copy of ARTEMIS and installed the driver it sends nothing to the DMX. Tried using various DMX software contollers (QLC) and that happily talks to it but not though ARTEMIS. Built ANOTHER PC as a dedicated server and got the same result ARTEMIS not talking to the DMX. Tried a fresh install of ARTEMIS as well, no dice. Anyone got ANY ideas?

Try checking what COM ports are in use, try to make sure that your DMX controller is on the lowest numbered one.

New Server: What OS?

Likely it's one of two things. My bet is on #2 below, but please start with #1.

1. HARDWARE:

Test Entec with their configuration utility

a) (LINK[smile] http://www.dmxking.com/usbdmx/ultradmxrdmpro
b) Click "Downloads"
c) Download, install, run "Configuration Utility"
d) [Detect], then click the drop down to choose the port.
e) View > DMX Display > Transmit > All 255.  At this point all lights should be on/flashing at full bright.
f) [All 0]
g) Close out of DMX Display & Configuration Utility.  You've verified the hardware is working.

2. SOFTWARE:

I've had similar problem when upgrading Artemis in that the DMX stops working.  The quick fix?  Just by running DMXTools and re-saving, it is smart enough to fix the problem.

a) Run "ArtemisDmxEditor"
b) Under DMX Devices, click Edit.  Make sure under "Virtual Input Devices" your devices are listed and on the right under "Associated Output Devices" the dmxpro-3ch is listed.
c) Save

Good luck!

You want dmx-3ch for Enttec Open.  dmxpro-3ch is for Enttec Pro.

Good point.  I have the pro.

Also, there are new diagnostic tools at LINK https://www.enttec.com/us/products/controls/dmx-usb/dmx-usb-pro/ that I have not yet tried.

So nothing on the above, also tried matching driver versions and the Artemis DMX editor, it sees the device and seems to output to it but no lights.

Other things noticed, it works on the 2 devices that are new enough to have no PORTS and no Port shows the the ENTEC DMX.

Could it be a USB 2.0 issue?

USB 2.0 is fine.

"So nothing on the above" does this mean the hardware testing failed using ENTTEC diag tools?  If this doesn't work, there's no need to move to the Artemis DMX Editor yet.

You lost me on the second sentence.  "Other things noticed, it (what is it?) works on the 2 devices (what 2 devices?) that are new enough to have no PORTS (?)"
