Is it possible to download a new full version (rather than the upgrade file) if you've previously paid for the product?

I purchased it and installed it months ago (1.661) on all my family's macs using Wineskin. We are having another artemis party tomorrow and I would like to upgrade everything to 1.7, since we had a lot of problems with 1.661.  But I'm not sure how to go about applying an upgrade in wineskin; it would be much easier to just install new ones.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Evan

All the upgrade is doing is just overwriting and adding files. I doesn't touch the registry AFAIK, so WINE shouldn't complain.

If I'm not mistaken, the upgrade is a fully portable version of the game.

I just checked my purchase confirmation, and the download link provided was of limited duration. It said that if you lose the original install file, be sure to retain the e-mail as proof of purchase. This implies, to me, that getting a full install of the game would require interaction with Fastspring to get a new download link. Also, I inadvertently installed the 1.702 into the default directory instead of my "games" location. I tried to run the update file from its installed location and it crashed. I think the upgrade file being a full version would circumvent the licensing scheme since, instead of downloading the demo, a person could just download the update patcher. I cut and pasted the files from the default dir to my games dir, overwriting all the dupes and it worked just fine.

Good luck and have fun with your Artemis party!

So you're saying anyone can download the latest full version of the game from the website without paying? That doesn't sound right to me.

No, it doesn't, does it? I upgraded my systems with 1.702 using the install over ver 1.66 in default paths. From there I simply copied the entire directory to the client stations. Now if ccallahan is correct and the installer does nothing with the registry... did someone leave the door open?

I don't have a virgin machine to test this. I hope I am wrong.

What do you think you are wrong about? I performed the test and it failed to run when the upgrade installer was deployed to an empty directory. Admittedly, I have a copy installed on another drive, but I think the test was still valid.
