I've written a companion app for Android and I want to release it on Google Play, but first I need to make sure it meets the content guidelines. Do I need Thom's permission? Do I need Robert Walker's permission, since he wrote the IAN library which is used by the app? Might there be some content that would be inappropriate for younger users?

Here are some screenshots so you can judge for yourself. I can't upload the APK, unfortunately, because it's too big to attach.

My permission is not needed; the whole point of Ian is to enable this kind of thing!

Is there any hope of a port to iOS?

OK, the app is now officially available on the Google Play Store!

I agree that an iOS port would be a good idea, but until I learn how to program in Objective-C and am able to find an IDE for it, or I find a way to port a Java app written for Android to iOS, it won't happen anytime soon. Sorry.

Also, I don't have an iPhone to test.

Also also, the reason the Android app works is because of Robert J. Walker's IAN library, which is written in Java. So I'd have to rewrite everything my app uses in order to make it work in another language. I do have Visual Studio and C#, but...no library I can find written in C# that reads and parses Artemis packets.

I am not getting the comma or decimal to appear on my screen (Galaxy S5) so I can't enter IP address

I...didn't know that was a thing I had to worry about because it works just fine on my phone.

EDIT: I just did a Google search and apparently this is a known issue with certain Galaxy devices. They recommend installing a custom keyboard. I don't want to change my app to suit this because it's a device issue, not an app issue, and you're never going to have an IP address with letters in it.

OK, My HP 7" tablet looks like everything is fine, but I need to test it in action. but my Samsung S5 shows this..... No comma or period on the keyboard to enter ip. Thats ok for me though I'd rather the bigger screen on the tablet

Well, as it turns out, something I never knew before, even though IP addresses don't have letters in them, Artemis servers can accept connections from clients that give text URLs as the address, meaning that switching to a full-text keyboard is actually a viable change. Robert, do you know if IAN can connect to an Artemis server using a text URL?

Artemis Messenger has been updated to version 2.5.0, available now on Google Play Store. I've changed the address input keypad from numbers and periods only to a full keyboard.

By the way, if you like Artemis Messenger, be sure to rate it! I hate to be that guy, but so far all I have is one rating.

At first glance this looks really nice. I will have to download it and add to this post once I've taken a look at it. And as for asking for permission, I think just posting on this board is enough. I usually put a thank you to everyone involved in the credits and when I post it.

You should be able to see version 2.5.1 now in Google Play Store. It comes with a few bug fixes as well as backwards compatibility with Artemis 2.3.
