Are there any launch options i can use for the game. For example, if this computer is always the helm, can i make an icon or command line that launches the game as a client with helm station selected? or any options like that at all?

Check artemis.ini - you can set it to use particular resolution / window-modes, you can certainly tell it to connect to a predetermined server, force Helm/Weap/Eng/Sci/whatever, you can change some joystick sensitivity parameters and stuff, you can even change how the camera follows the ship. There's also a bunch of other parameters for the server - how fast shields recharge, sensor range, energy used by different systems, filename and volume of different sound effects, LOADS of stuff, go look, and have fun!

The options to preselect a station for a particular client used to not work, but I'm fairly sure Thom got them working a couple of revisions ago, and they've been working ever since. I'm sure it's a big timesaver for custom bridges, not to mention groups that get together to always play the same stations.

Unfortunately there are no command line options, so you have to make do with editing artemis.ini. You can't just have a startup icon to select Helm, for instance, you have to configure it to always select Helm. You could play around with batch files, though, for instance you could create multiple artemis.ini files and use the batch file to switch between them. Or have multiple installations of Artemis. (Although that would take up a lot of space)

that's great info guys, very useful. thanks for the replies.
I'm working on a venue that will have a permanent Artemis bridge, possibly two, played by the public. In that setting, I need to stream line as much as possible.
