I would be very interested in the WSD PLEX for 2.4  but would still want the updated WSD mod for convention play.   Thanks!

Hopefully I'll get a 2.4 version of the WSD Mod up sometime tomorrow. I should also have a 2.4 version of the WSD PLEX mod up about the same time.

Does anyone want a WSD PLEX for an earlier version of Artemis?

Plex sounds awesome! I would definitely want it for 2.4 though

Plex mod sounds absolutely amazing! Really looking forward to it. I trust CxfAtheus to make something excellent, when Eastern Front played WSD before 2.3 was released it was really really fun. Really looking forward to a 2.4 version so we can pick up WSD mod again!

Here is the Planetary Exploration Mod (PLEX) for the WSD Mod. This is only for Artemis v2.4.
The zip contains all of the files for the WSD Mod, as well as additions that add in the PLEX Mod.

Mod includes:
Everything from the last version of the WSD Mod
Biomechs have been replaced with planets (set monsters to some/lots/many to get planets)
About a dozen types of planets that can be deep scanned
Planet "beam frequencies" can be used for roleplaying (example: each frequency represents a different element, planetary feature, etc)
Everything is 1/5 scale in the game, making the play space seem 5x bigger
Updated skyboxes that no longer have planets

There are a few things that don't behave perfectly. Ship customization (color changing) is impossible to see at this scale. Skaaran tractor beams will require some new tactics to handle. The planets "pop-in," which can be a bit jarring until you get used to it.

For the most part the mods seem to play really well together. Let me know if you encounter any issues so I can trouble shoot them.

WSD Mod for Artemis v2.4 is now under the main download link!

There have been no changes to the mod...just made a version compatible with Artemis 2.4.

Did a temporary update of the WSD PLEX where I fixed the skyboxes. There were some nasty seams because I mis-labeled the images. Temporarily duplicated the working skyboxes to prevent seams. I'll re-update when I fix the mess I made.

We played WSD Mod for Artemis 2.3 in combination with the WarServer last weekend. There was the main fleet consisting of 4 ships (3 players each - Helm, Weapons, Engeneer) and the tactical command on a command carrier (one player - science for the whole fleet)
The coordination between the ships was a disaster: our lancer got nuked twice by the javelin it was defending. Diff Level 10 + WSD-Mod was too hard for us.
There was a second fleet with only a longbow with three players. Although the crew were newbies, who never played the game before, they performed better than the main fleet. They attacked the sectors with lower enemy numbers, and were very successful.
The difficulty realy comes from the coordination between the different ships. Next time we need a captain for each ship, connected over teamspek...
We all really like the Mod, although not everybody likes every ship. Our Helm realy hates the Morningstar, the newbie crew loves it :-)

My oppinion of the ships:
Morningstar: if your helm manages to fly the ship, it goes round and round, the big laser shooting every three weaks but doing massive damage on enemies within the circle.
Javelin: Nice Nuker. hates Anti-Torp. very weak against drones and fighters. the beam has the range and the damage output of a handhold phaser. Must be defended by some ally.
Scythe: Perfect for mining runs. i like its low maneuverability. If there is a scaraan with tractor within the enemies, this ship dies. So you need a good science.
Lancer: Fighters be gone. Draw attention of all the enemy fighters, shoot them and your allies survive. With a good engeneer theres almost no damage to the shields.
Dart/Stilletto: I can't see their tactical useage playing the WarServer campaign. Maybe they can distract drones and fighters. May be more useful in standard missions.
Didn't try the other ships.
Enemies:
I see some Arvonian ship has drones? As I understand their culture, they dont send drones on suicide missions.
Torgoths with up to 1000 shields. Now they are feared!
Kraliens spam drones. Ranged attracks are now less boring

What described was exactly what we were after with the mod. No ship can run the show on its own...everyone has a weakness and a strength. We also wanted difficulty 10 to be incredibly hard. We were finding the only thing making difficulty 10 really hard was cranking up enemy speed, which we hate doing. Solution? Better enemy shields, more drones, and more specialized ships for players.

Your descriptions of the individual ships were spot on for what we wanted. Everyone has their preferences. The lancer beam is not meant to do anything other than shoot down drones that get too close. We just got frustrated with the missile cruiser being completely incapable of simple defense, so we decided the longbow and the javelin needed one weak beam. We also made the phalanx with a series of weak beams to deal with the mountains of drones you might see.

The dagger/stiletto are much more helpful in a base game. They aren't much use in the war server (I wouldn't imagine).

I appreciate all of the feedback. Thanks and enjoy.

IF YOU ARE USING WSD MOD FOR ARTEMIS v2.4 YOU MUST RE-DOWNLOAD AND RE-INSTALL!!!

There is an error in the vesseldata that will cause 2.4 to crash if you don't update. If you would like to download just the vesseldata files I am providing links to just them:

Multi-ship (download this if you were using the regular WSD version)

Solo-ship (download if you used the solo version of WSD Mod)

I take it that this does not solve the issue with the WSD PLEX version?

The link up above has the fixed version for the WSD PLEX Mod, or you can get it through the Planetary Exploration Mod thread.

But, yes, the PLEX version is fixed, too.

I'm going to shift this to the Off Topic section - all game mods really should end up there. Mission scripts will stay in the Mission Scripting section.
