I hate to be that guy, but this has become a legitimate concern of mine by now. The reason for this is that I've been playing as a fighter pilot in Artemis v2.3. While I think it's an awesome experience, my only complaint is that in many situations it's damn near impossible to know where I am in relation to everything else. For instance, if I'm dealing with small enemies like piranhas or enemy fighters, they often go behind me and then I have to turn around and look 360 degrees in order to find them. Similarly, when I've beaten all the enemies nearby, sometimes it takes me a long time to find the home ship. If I had a secondary screen with a Science map, which would be very convenient on, say, a tablet or a smartphone, this wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue. Unfortunately, the latest version for Android is still v2.1, which is incompatible with v2.3, so I'm screwed.

The key to success in Artemis is communication! If the captain isn't giving you direct turning orders, and you don't have access to the main screen, ask your science officer directly! (Or really anyone with tactical views)

If you don't have a second screen, like my fighter wing at Armada II, The Science or Weapons would call out "Home bearing 240" when I called for "fighters back" as most of the fighter tended to stay clustered and did not stray too far away. OR find the horizon line and spin on that (not up/down just side/side) and you'll find home somewhere on that 360 spin.

theLlamafication has a point. Thom could have provided more autonomy for the fighters if he wanted to, but that would be just another of the zillion space fighter games that are out there. In Artemis no one is ever supposed to be autonomous. Your mothership should provide you with navigational information.

That said, the current version will work on a MS Surface. I imagine the Android and iOS versions will go under development once the bugs are worked out of the Windows version.
