Also Longbowman and Lawson Thompson, do you have a problem with fighters getting abandoned by newbie captains? Do the pilots mind spending long periods wandering across the map?

I am sure the other races would not design their stations the same ways the TSN would.

My Switch Sides mod hasn't yet been updated for 2.7 but it was last tested with 2.6. You can actually play any race you want by modifying the vesselData accordingly. (But you can compare with my mod to make sure you're changing the right things)

Until I get around to making a 2.7 version, the 2.5 mod is here: https://artemis.forumchitchat.com/post/switch-sides-mod-for-artemis-2-5-9645586?pid=1303174794

I know the idea has been discussed to have "resources" you can gather that can then be traded in for a fighter. I don't think it should be as easy as just telling a base to build one from nothing, like a torpedo, but if you've got something to start with it shouldn't take long to repair or replace a fighter.

I've previously suggested recovering the "frame" of a fighter when it is destroyed so it can be repaired. Destroyed Arvonian fighters could also serve as the "parts" to repair or replace your fighters.

My Simple Sandbox also includes a couple of Trade missions that have a new replacement fighter as a reward. My idea is to have a mission that is sustainable, and can be run for any amount of time without the supplies running out. That might be a good idea for the Peacetime mode.

I like these ideas, Ryleyra, but they only solve the problem if the captain and crew do their part. Sometimes newbie crews are not interested in cooperating or even succeeding. If the Captain is only interested in nuking space whales or the Weapons Officer likes to destroy friendly ships (he might have intentionally shot down all the fighters just for LOLs) then the fighter player is doomed to be unhappy.

That doesn't happen too often. The most common problem (in random missions) is having no more fighters at any of the bases. Careful scripting can mitigate the base depletion.

When fighters are left behind, about 50% of the time the fighters are slaughtered by whatever the capital ship was fleeing!

The other 50% of the time, the abandoned fighters run and after several minutes will catch up with the capital ship. There's usually good natured ribbing about it!

IDEA! I'll link it below, starting a new thread...
