Also, I think I may know why the vesseldata.XML file is not loading correctly and not working with the mission editor. There is an XML parsing error in the file... you can't have a open comment tag "<!--" within a comment. Try deleting line 105 and it should be clear of parsing errors.

@DizzyKungFu - thanks for the tips! I'll get those fixed asap.

@ron77 - I've been running it in invasion mode and haven't had any glitches yet, but please give it a go! I'll fix the music miscue and extra comment tag, but it it shouldn't make any difference in invasion mode.

Fired this up tonight on a full bridge setup! Things did run smoothly in just a siege. New models look nice without being too graphics intensive. I haven't yet seen the old "Miranda model appears as a base" problem, which is good! Although shield settings seem all over the place... some ships have several thousand shield strength, while others only have like 50 to 300 shield strength.

PS: I miss the Constitution-refit. [frown] Any chance of getting it back? 😃

Okie dokie!  Deleted several rows of comments that may have been causing parsing errors, fixed shield strength issues on multiple entries, and fixed the Taking a Beating sound file misname.  Same link as before.

The Miranda as Base issue was from when I was overloading each race declaration to be player, ally, and enemy races.  Since Bases couldn't be player ships, it had to pick a model to be the base.  It's all separated properly now, so no worries about that.

There are a lot of ships I still need to convert to the new format, and I suspect some fan favorites may sneak their way back in 😉

are you ok with us adding the romulan and klingon bases back in from the 2.6 files?  those aren't in it and we have a couple of scripts that we will be running next week at spikecon that needs those bases.  im not sure what we need to copy or how to put them back in, so hopefully I  don't break it trying to do it.

Feel free to give it a go, but thanks for the reminder and I'll get those back in tomorrow!

ah ok, if your going to do it, then I won't attempt it as I don't know what files need to be transfered, and will probably break things.  ill just wait till tomorrow when you put them in.

I'm having trouble with assigning a Starfleet fighter (Danube class Runabout) to a capital ship. I can put the Runabout aboard, give it a name, and launch it, but the Runabout is invisible. It appears as if it has no mesh. And as soon as the Runabout fires its weapons the fighter console crashes. The weapons do real damage, though. 😉

OK, 2.7.3b updated with a variety of bases, and apparently the .wav file for the fighter beam sound had gotten corrupted. Everything else seemed ok, so I just replaced that one with the stock game version (until I can remember what how I made it in the first place.....)  Also, it seems like the Danube mesh and textures load ok here, and the files are present in the actual .zip file.  I'm not sure why you weren't seeing it?

Hello Mark,

I'm not sure why, but when I load the latest Vesseldata.XML file and any mission into the mission editor, ships are now showing up as "vessel does not exist" Any ideas?

I loaded the vesseldata file into visual studio, and it identifed that base id 1030 was missing the close tag, the base information starts on line 885, and has no close tag.  I added </vessel> on line 904 and it loads up fine

one of the things I love about visual studio (didn't know you could open xml files as I don't use it for that, but decided to try and see if it would load the file) was that is there is any error in the code, it will have a red mark in the scroll bar, so you can tell it to scroll to that point, and then syntax error will be underlined in red, and if you hover over it, it will say what the fix is

I'm not sure why that is, that's something to report to Thom and/or Norton.  It's not a problem I've ever encountered, and it's certainly not a virus if you've downloaded it legitimately from the appropriate website. This isn't the right thread for it, though, since the TNG mod doesn't include or affect Artemis.exe.
