We were offered three recharges in a row and all of a sudden we had 8700 energy and became dead in the water......100% damage on every system and no DAMCOMS and we did not explode....could not move and couldnt repair but the comms did work....

Those dots are red.  It's hard to tell that from this cell phone picture.  Engineering was wack-a-moleing coolent everywhere and we could do nothing, dam-con teams all dead so no repairs.  I think we sat there for 15 minutes laughing our assess off before I finally shut down the sim.  This must be a bug.  We thought surely we should have exploded long ago.  But no, we just sat there.

That isn't quite a bug. Your ship still had enough hull left (your hull was untouched, just your hardpoints were damaged) to not have the ship explode. As a note for you and others, if you were to get that much energy, try to adjust warp to a lower percentage, throw full coolant into warp (so it isnt overheating anymore if possible. If not, maximize the amount of time you have the system before it blows up). Then you should move one damcon team OFF of autonomous and move them OFF of all hardpoints so they don't get hurt and move the other two onto warp hardpoints if they are still overheating. Then hit warp 4 to burn some of that energy so you can get back down to below 4000.

That all would hopefully save your ship and keep it from having this happen, though you would still be out of action for around 10 or 20 minutes or so.

Anyways, looks like a fun time! I've had that happen to me before and I couldn't stop laughing as I couldn't do a single thing.

I'm sorry.  I'll fix it (in the next version) so your ship explodes properly.

That does seem like a great deal of energy you picked up.  Was it all from "give you 500 pts of energy" rendezvous?

LOL, yea, it would save us from being dead in the water and waiting for the targoths or whatever to wander down and finally phaser us to death while we cook in our own ship.  We had I think three missions that gave us recharges or so rapidly converge together.   Something about having just left the right base and just happening to run into two transports or so at the same time and a comms officer who signs us up to all the missions.  I think there even may have been an anomaly involved, who knows.  I just know we peaked around 8700 energy and the Engineering suddenly went HAY WHAT THE HELL! and everything was red lining and all the dam con teams were dead in seconds.

We had this during one game. We did a side mission or two and suddenly ridiculous overcharged energy levels, I think every system started to overheat even if dialled right down, but system damage all over the shop. I came up with the same strategy as Pup mentioned of Warping as inefficiently as possible and spamming energy to torp and firing them as quickly as possible to drain our energy. We survived and won the game, but lost all dam con teams.

My Engineer wrote the following mock tabloid article on our Facebook group.

Quote:
SHAMED ADMIRAL SNUBS WIDOWS

SHAMED Admiral Nilsson today snubbed widows by remaining at work during the FUNERALS of 8 of our Brave Boys from the TSN Artemis, killed by repeated engine explosions during their mission in the Varadi Sector.
Weeping widows (some of whom were widowers) angrily demanded the resignation of Admiral Nilsson, Capt Hancock, Chief Bebbington and Tiddles the ships cat for their NEGLIGENCE in overpowering the ship BEYOND 4000 UNITS which resulted in multiple engine blowouts causing 7 DamCon workers to be smeared all over the inside of the warpcore like a gory patina. The final funeral of the day was for a member of the Artemis' security team cruelly killed by da yout's, one day before retirement.

All members of the Bridge crew were found to be under the influence of Hummus when they returned from the mission, and Tiddles' stash of catnip (street value £50) was confiscated by authorities.

"We refuse to believe that TSN would appoint a Chief Engineering Officer who did not even know how his own engines worked" sobbed one widower angrily. The Daily Internetz is beginning a campaign to bring these monsters to JUSTICE.
Cont. pages 8 - 11

PS - Please don't fix this! It was awesome. It was just like an episode of star trek. There are plenty of space combat opportunities in Artemis but this was a rare chance to have a different kind of adventure.

Maybe if there was a way to get a DS Station to send out a ship with more Dam Con guys or maybe from a friendly ship, that way that sort of thing could be kept in the game, but there wouldn't be no hope for the stranded crew. though adding that might cause some sort of exploit or unbalance the game so it might need some sort of way to compensate for that..

It would be cool if we could have asked a transport to give us a tow to the nearest star base. lol

Towing would add interesting mission possibilities.

I second that towing thing. That could open up a lot of possibilities in mission scripting and could make those occasions when a ship runs out of power manageable instead of being dead in the water for 5 or 10 minutes.

Not to mention it could add a great dimension to playing in co-op games.

I'd also like the ability for Artemis to tow other friendly vessels.
