The TSN RP Community
We Are Th
e Elite

For an experience like no other, join the TSN RP Community.

About Us

For the past two and 1/2 years, the TSN RP Community has been meeting every Saturday at 20:00hrs UTC. We are a friendly and welcoming community open to everyone who wants to join, whether you have played Artemis for years or have only just bought the game.

You'll experience a great atmosphere during our sessions and have the chance to play alongside some of the most experienced Artemis players in the world. We regularly run multiple ships in a game, closely coordinating with ship-to-ship communication on a fleet wide scale.

Every session, you are guaranteed to be on a ship with a crew. As an active member (showing up on a regular basis) you will be able to take on an assignment with a permanent crew, playing with a regular group of people each week. As a casual player, you will have the same opportunity to play on crews, and are assigned on the night. No one sits out!

Our GM team run the most amazing missions every session too, with story arcs that stretch over weeks and months. You'll see the universe in which we play change, with our actions impacting the story and its outcome. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet new and deadly enemies, mysterious races and neutral factions; all part of our TSN Mod.

We also have an active website, with forums that players can access between shifts. There is our own extensive canon that is continually developing, closely linked to the official Artemis canon, which allows you to immerse yourself in the TSN Universe, reading and writing short stories and personal logs, intel reports and mission briefs.

With opportunities such as joining our GM team, canon team or mod team, posting stories and logs, earning medals and achievements, you can go further than just playing the game.

Join up now and become an officer of the Terran Stellar Navy.

Updates - 21/08/2015

Rather than create new topics, this thread is going to be used to keep people up to date on what is happeing in the TSN RP Community.

Next shift, we are all set to start a new mini-campaign, designed by our GM team and set to last around 8 - 10 weeks. This campaign is going to see extensive use of the brand new TSN Sandbox and is likely to see the 4th Light Division take on more mysterious and dangerous enemies!

We have all new and updated maps in our TSN Sandbox too! Below is an image of the largest system in use at the moment: Atlantis System, home to the 2nd Fleet HQ and starting point for our campaign.

Atlantis System.png

Beautifully designed, with a variety of areas including a military testing area and a protected zone for whales, this map will see extensive use in the campaign.

As will the next map; Cerberus system - a frontier system on the fringes of USFP space and main trading port with species such as the Hjorden and Antarians.

Cerberus System.png

The smallest system in the TSN Sandbox, Cerberus is constantly under threat from pirate raiding parties trying to hijack cargo ships and disrupt trading and supply between the USFP and Hjorden.

Our new canon department is also adding more to the richness of our universe, encouraging people to write personal logs and stories, such of those of Ensign Solari:

Quote:
Day 3

There really hadn’t been much time to relax per-se, after the initial shock had worn off from two days ago.
The Hydra was currently part hospital ship, and part watch-dog. Luckily, the unknown assailants hadn’t been back for another round.
And that was quite alright to Solari.

He was sitting next to one of DC team members, a Crewman Kaplan. She still slept in her doctor induced coma, just one of the many patients still being treated.
The sickbay itself was mostly quiet. Save for the hums of the medical scanners and nursing droids, it was almost peaceful.

The Ensign hadn’t moved in an hour. In fact, he barely seemed to be looking at the Crewman directly now. He was lost in his own guilt. Kaplan had been knocked out after the Hydra had taken a hit with her shields down. A moment of his doing during the first strikes with the unknowns.
He kept playing the memory in his mind. Shields, shields the bridge crew kept calling out. Solari knew he had pressed the button on his console to activate them; it was always the first thing he had his hand over. The helmsman’s own collisions with asteroids to the front of the Hydra, had kept him on edge with keeping them raised much to his own credit.
But for some reason during combat, had he somehow froze, or blanked out?
It was, as humans said, feasting at him.
Sometimes it was easy to forget that a ship had a crew, and that one mistake could have consequences other than bad timing, or repairable minor damage. The old military adage of ‘with rank comes responsibility’, always applied.

It was another twenty minutes, before Solari stood up and put his webbed hand on the Crewman’s own. “Get well,” he whispered.
Moving, he took a look around at the other patients in sickbay and nodded. Most of them were civilians or TSN researchers from the bases. The outlook for them was good though.

As he left sickbay, he took a glance at his chrono. 2200 ships time, yet 1400 station local. It was easy to choose sleep over his current mood.

Day 7

Most of the wounded had recovered from the events almost a week ago. Crewman Kaplan had woken up yesterday, eager to get out of sickbay, much to Solari’s internal delight.
What few who hadn’t were on bed rest in their own bunks. Yet, some funerals had been held. Still an odd Human custom to Solari’s non-Human half. On his home-world, land was a premium, and so letting the body fall down into the watery depths, to feed the endless cycle, was more appropriate than burying a useless husk. It was almost the same with space, and sending a body, if there was one, out into the black. In fact on his home-world’s defence ships, they recycled the body into…well nothing was wasted. Practicality ruled, not sentiment.

That aside, repairs, re-arming, sensor sweeps, meetings. Life was going on in the 4th, and the stations.
If there had been an inspection by the old Academy Commandant, the Division would have passed with running colours, as Humans might say. Or was it hovering?
The Hydra itself was remarkably almost dent free from the last beating she had taken almost a week ago. A testament to her engineering crew and the research stations mysterious supply of hull coating, salvaged amongst other things, from one of the derelict stations. Humans had a way of being practical with some things, it seemed.

And with all that, something was coming. Most likely more questions than answers from command, if Order 31 ever ceases to be running.
Hopefully, it would be business as before, or there would be more complications. Either way, this lull wouldn’t last; It never did.
But isn’t that why they were out in Space?

Set to be completed soon is another update to the TSN Mod too, adding new models for the USFP gateways. With over 10 different races and a huge variety of generic meshes, the mod provides huge diversity and an experience like no other. Below are some of the shots of different ship types added to the TSN Universe.

We only hold one duty shift, about 3pm US time (depending of course on where you are located). People from around the world join, and in order to maintain higher numbers during the session and allow as many international players as possible, the decision was made to keep running only one duty shift.

People are more then welcome to come and join us on a casual basis though, as we realise that not everyone is always available on a Saturday afternoon.

Our mission to defend Cerberus continues. We've managed to strike back against the invading hegemony & N'Tani forces, reclaiming the sectors they have taken and freeing USFP prisoners aboard the captured bases. Now, we are poised to push them back to the border and out of the system. Their forces are weakening, and it will only be a matter of time before the TSN successfully removes the Hegemony threat from Cerberus, and secures the system once more!

Come and join the fight!

Tonight - 20:00 hrs UTC

The Cerberus campaign is finally at an end and it took its toll on the 4th Light Division. Though we were able to successfully push back the rogue hegemony forces and negotiate a peace deal with the N'tani, we took heavy casualties.

Now the 4th Division must continue to secure the border regions, dealing with rogue asteroids (deliberately knocked out of stable positions by the retreating hegemony forces) and pirate factions seeking to make gains along the weakened border.

Join us and help protect the people of the USFP.

For duty. For honour!

Fleet Captain's Log: Stardate 51215-2236

--Begin Log--

We are back at Promethean Command and the Division is getting a much needed refit. R&D have managed to figure out some way to improve the refine denabite crystals that power our reactors, and have been in the process of upgrading our fusion reactor systems. It greatly extends the range of the Division, meaning patrols along the border can be more frequent and cover a much larger area.

Those patrols so far seems quiet...almost too quiet. Several encounters with pirates have been reported, which isn't unusual, however one, I am highly suspicious of. It seemed too coincidental that they attacked our convoy carrying key jump gate components. It was almost as if the knew when and where to strike. Maybe I'm just jumping at shadows...

--End log--

With our TSN mod, new upgrades to energy systems, a specially designed mission script and amazing GM team, you are guaranteed the most amazing Artemis role play experience around! Feel like a real TSN officer, exploring a truly huge galaxy.

Join us and really explore the galaxy!

Personal Log, Ensign Conrad Matsiyan, TSN Lancer, 4th LD
Stardate: 51215-2237

--Continue log--

Instead of another sim we were called into a mission briefing. Promethean system was in some disarray after the high-V kinetic asteroid strikes initiated by General Monteurgh’s desperation at the end of the recent action. A number of orbits had been perturbed. TSN Command was reviewing Promethean system for additional resources to assist the industrial bases to rebuild and develop in Sector V in the vicinity of station M-445.

We were to determine asteroid mineral content to assist the ore processing stations to identify mining targets. Catalog every asteroid identified to science officers. Weapons were to use optimal frequencies from Science sensor readings to take samples without destroying the deposits. Comms officers were required to enter Sensor findings into the Mineralogy report.

That’s when Aposine went crazy. Well crazier, to judge from some of his earlier flying. He pointed out, fairly frothing over, this would be Lancer’s maiden voyage, our first physical departure from command, despite the fact we had been living aboard and getting to know her. I had been planning for this, but I had completely forgotten. I pulled out the bottle of bubbles I had been saving. I had half planned to break in on her prow, but I guess they did that at the shipyard and now we were out of time. I quickly charged half a dozen drinking bulbs (not wanting to incur the CO’s wrath if it got spilled on the bridge) and rushed up to the nerve centre. “Your attention for a moment, please!” I handed out the toasts. “To the TSN Lancer, bless her and all who sail in her!”
“The Lancer!” came back the enthusiastic replies. And then we all turned back to business and eased her gently out of dock. Suddenly I felt a little pang of jealousy and regret. I realized Mundy was watching us undock and wishing she was aboard.

We formed up with Hydra but had to throttle back our drive energy to 50% Warp. And that’s when it really hit. As I was negotiating with Aposine over the right settings to sync with our consort without him have to continually drop in and out of warp, I realized Mundy was listening in on a similar conversation between Hydra’s Helm and Chief Engineer. I could hear them discussing not wanting to increase energy beyond 130% because otherwise coolant distribution would have to be recalibrated. I don’t usually get these kind of lucid daydreams, but I checked it later with Adele and she confirmed that it happened.

And that is when finally dawned on me that the techs had not only been calibrating the ship’s responses to the sims, but they had been completing the efficiency upgrades. TSN Lancer was energy neutral while pootling along in consort with Hydra. She was positively sipping at her power plant’s output.

Sector transition from Promethean sector went without issue. We docked at M-445 before heading out on the survey.

We intercepted pirates in system. They had a Shield drain upgrade. We sustained minor damage to Impulse and Manoeuvre. No casualties. We assisted Raven then returned to M-445 for refueling.

Our next assignment was a request to intercept N-68 to disable its shields. That ship had already surrendered. I wrestled with that trying to work out if I could reduce beam energy to guarantee the survival of the target or wether I was going to disobey an order. I had resolved that I would not power the beams. But at that point command net became unavailable and after the reboot, the subject of N-68 never came up again. Instead we were tasked with protecting a supply convoy.

The captain was feeling light hearted and as we waited patiently to form up with Hydra, he had elevator muzak piped into the bridge. This must have inflamed Aposine’s passions as following the next sector transition, while playing with a non-standard but exuberant higher warp velocity, he impacted an asteroid. Morlock, a cautious and sensible fellow, for some reason had the presence of mind to have the shields up. The asteroid impact reduced them to 30% but my paint stayed intact and with our abundant energy reserves we had the shields recharged in close to record time.

Just as well because shortly after there were major incursions by Kralien and pirate forces attempting to interdict our convoy. We proved effective both at leading a battle-group with the Hydra and operating in support of her. This led to the muzak in the next lull being a very cheerful ancient piano piece by the Vince Geraldi Trio, which apparently was a sound track to some animated documentary about ground nuts.

After giving the interlopers a severely bloody nose, we returned to asteroid surveys still grouped with Hydra. Lancer’s powerful assault even took down a heavily armed Pirate transport. However we took some damage from another Axe class. Lost a whole DC team and a half.

Back at base I let slip some of the strange sense impressions I had noticed. I was in the specialist brain unit so fast I had vertigo. After a detailed night of study (at least they provided espresso with breakfast) they determined there is some kind of telepathic psionic attunement between Mundy and I.

Now how am I going to hide the whisky?
--End log--

Be part of the adventure.

The Unakalhai threat is becoming increasingly more serious. Not only must we face the threat from outside, we must also face the threat from within.

X: LT Hall, Office of Naval Intelligence
R: 4LTDIV HQ, 4LTDIV NSD

Foreword: As the contents of this memorandum indicate, I was CC’d this memo to the newly elected Security Manager regarding some of the events that have transpired aboard the Hydra as of late. After some private discussion with LTJG Quinn, I deemed this to be of sufficient importance to send to the CMDNET, and get in the hands of the senior staff and NSD as quickly as possible.

Memorandum
StarDate: 16116-2238
From: Jr. Quinn, TSN Hydra (CM-008), 2F, 4LD
To: Division Security Manager Lt. Jr. Finley, TSN Hawk (CL-982), 2F, 4LD
CC: Lt. Hall, Office of Naval Intelligence, 2F, 4LD
Subject: Possible Hydra Security Breach

Lt. Jr. Finley,
I believe the TSN Hydra may have shown evidence of a security breach during the most recent duty shift. I am by no means an expert on security issues, however, so I will simply make my report of the events as I observed them from the bridge and leave any deductions to you.
At roughly 21:00 while on patrol in Sector VI of the Promethean System, the TSN Hydra, under the command of Lt. Cmdr. Del Pino, engaged in battle with Unukalhai Space Forces vessels in conjunction with the rest of the 2nd Fleet, under the command of Acting Flt. Cpt. Expree. USF vessels were advised to surrender their vessels and have all hands aboard abandon ship via life pods. Most USF vessels ignored this request and chose to go down with their ships.
One ship, however, surrendered to the Hydra and disgorged 5 life pods. As helm officer, I quickly navigated to pick up life pods designated 1, 2, and 4. I believe the TSN Raven picked up life pods 3 and 5. Lt. Cmdr. Del Pino ordered us to destroy the USF vessel and proceed to the station designated M-33 to transfer the USF prisoners.
Chief Petty Officer Harrison was assigned to the cargo bay at the time of the incident, and would have been leading his team of 5 enlisted personnel in receiving the life pods and securing them in the cargo bay. Standard operating procedure aboard the Hydra dictates that hostile life pods must remain sealed until a security detail arrives. The security detail dispatched to the cargo bay at this time was led by Sgt. Jenson and consisted of three TSN marines from our shipboard detachment of marines. As far as the bridge crew was aware, we docked with the station designated M-33 and offloaded the life pods and all USF personnel to await trial while we continued our patrol.
We later learned that the personnel aboard the station opened the pods and discovered that none of the USF personal were alive. I do not know what transpired in the cargo bay during that time, but the bridge was not notified of any abnormal proceedings. Perhaps the USF personnel preferred suicide to life in prison, or perhaps some zealous member of the enlisted personnel decided to take it upon himself to rid the galaxy of the USF scourge one by one. I recommend requesting full reports from C.P.O. Harrison and Sgt. Jenson but as I said, I will leave the deductions to you.

Yours,
Lieutenant, Junior Grade Quinn
Helms Officer
TSN Hydra (CM-008)
2nd Fleet, 4th Light Division

Afterword: This report hints to perhaps there being some greater scrutiny needing to be had. We will have to get the autopsy reports to be sure of the cause of death — until then, best to keep our wits about us.
