I am not a fan of McFarlane's sense of humor. But I have a feeling that this will do far better then "Star Trek: Discovery", though not because it will be better, but because CBS/Paramount have tarnished their image with Trek fans so badly last year, that I would not be surprised that Trekkers would want to improve this shows ratings just to spite them.

Let's be fair - I don't want either show to do poorly.  The Orville can't really exist successfully in a vacuum, and Discovery should only benefit from more space shows being popular.

I think CBS squandered a lot of goodwill people had about this show from mishandling of the 50th anniversary, fumbling the show with Brian Fuller and schedule slips, and forcing it into CBS All Access.

Paramount has nothing to do with Discovery, and there are plenty of other Axanar threads.

And now what has been seen cannot be unseen. Thank you @Wookiemart for giving me that image every time I see this ship now.

I was interested to read the interview on Den Of Geek where McFarlane said it would be proper science fiction, more so than the comedic trailer implies. It looks like a lot of fun and the ship is a beautiful model.

I'll admit, this is encouraging
