We've been running 2.7.2A here at ConCoction and so far we're thinking it may have something to do with biomechs. Crashes were happening around the 30-min mark, but missions without terrain/monsters were not crashing. Best guess is biomechs are treated as enemies, so maybe it doesn't like something when the second wave of enemies comes in.

Not sure if this is causing THE crashes, but it looked like it caused A crash: after mid game, new Skaraan came in, was fighting with a biomech. Pretty sure that one of the new Skaraan abilities used against a biomech caused a crash. Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly which specials the Skaraan had.

The Observer screen was very unstable, crashing constantly. The server itself crashed 5-6 times in four hours. We tried replicating the crashes but failed. It seemed that player actions did not cause them.

At Cleveland Concoction we also had crashes. I believe we found the crashes could be prevented by running Artemis on Difficulty Level 3 or lower.

So what does Artemis add in at level 4?

I think the crashes were caused by one of the new elite abilities. The more Skaraans there are in the game the greater the probability of a crash. Playing at Level 4 gives you few or no Skaraans so the server is unlikely to crash.

Also, as noted in another thread, interrupted looting can cause a server crash. If a Pirate is in the process of looting a ship that gets attacked by a Shark (for example) the server will crash.
