Mission Two Briefing

In an attempt to expedite their invasion the enemy are expanding their jump gate network to extend their logistical reach. It’s imperative that their supply lines be severed.

To accomplish this we’re launching a string of daring raids across the frontier.

Enter the designated sector, locate the enemy gates, destroy them and obliterate all of the enemy forces.

*This mission adjusts to become more difficult if more player ships are present.

File Attached.

Deep Strike Mission
Difficulty 9,
Terrain - Some
Lethal Terrain - Some
Friendly Ships - None (Because they would be enemy neutrals here.)
Monsters - None
Anomalies - Many

Vessel Data
Due to participant numbers I'm not currently releasing an amended Vessel Data at this time. Play at standard levels for now and we'll see how things go.

Be aware though that some enemies in this mission will become more difficult if there are more player ships present.

Mission Report *Warning Spoilers Ahead*

Fleet Captain Switch reporting to command.  We were able to destroy all of the enemies Warp Gates with no loses to our fleet, but the enemies were able to destroy all of our supply ships.  After this we start utilizing Guerilla tactics and mine fields that our missile cruiser laid down for protection.  Unfortunately, the enemy was too many, and the executive decision was made too evacuate the sector, and make for the safety of our front lines.  Due to the evacuation of the sector we did not have the resources to engage in a deep strike assault on the enemies after the mission.

(OC:  We were able to destroy the warp gates, and lost no ships, but were forced to abandon the mission due to many of the participants having to leave for the night.  We were confident with the patients and access to more time we would have been able to defeat the rest of the enemies.  With that said it was a blast!   Thank you for that Mission, it was one of most interesting, and fresh Artemis challenges that I have experienced in a long time!  We brought a battleship and Missile Cruiser into the mission with us.  Also, I plan on posting more detailed Mission report after other captain’s report in, because it was so fun that I would like to share, but I do not want to report spoilers and I want everyone else to have as hard of time with it as we did. [smile] [tongue])

 Mission Report Dy-368.3

Post mission report of the TSN Gungnir AKA "The Snackbar".

My crew and I were on shore leave when we got the word USFP command had found the TAC jump gates. As expected, We were quickly dispatched to site Bravo to destroy the gates and stem the flow of enemy forces into our space.

The shift from drinks on a simulated beach to full alert was a jarring one, but the crew was eager have a straight forward combat mission. We were to travel to Jump Gate site Bravo, identify the gates and destroy them. We knew how important was, the enemy forces were unknown, but assumed to be heavy, to say that the crew was tense would be an understatement. We were assigned three supply ships to keep us in nukes and power during this long range mission; I can’t imagine the bravery needed for a crew to go this far into enemy space in an unarmed boat.

Enemy force concentration was unlike any I had ever seen before. It seemed like my science  officer's screen was filled with the white and red of enemy vessels.

The forward Skaraans were isolated quickly and neutralized. After that we cleared out a perimeter around the supply vessels while Science scanned for the gates.

On a personal note they say that the harder a crew is to control, the more effective they can be. This has certainly never been more true that the crew of the Snackbar. From the outside looking in I’m sure the bridge seemed like nothing more than screaming discord as 6 voices all shouted at once. However my crew knew their posts well and while science called out frequency weaknesses and searched for the gates, Comms was coxing enemy to surrender and keeping an ear on vox traffic, Helm was moving in and out of beam arcs, weapons made precise shots to enemy weapons systems and expertly placed ordinance shots, all the while engineering made sure the power was where it needed to be and the ship didn’t blow up. I’m not sure if a more ragtag band can be found, but they can certainly come together when it matters most.

Once the Jump gates were identified we prioritized them as targets and were able to neutralize them fairly quickly. Unfortunately we did not return quickly enough from the third gate to save supply ship 3 and on the way to supply ships 2&1, supply ship 2 took a series of barrages from long range enemy fire destroying it. We were able to save Supply ship 1 and create a clear perimeter around it. We were preparing to go on a full offensive against the remaining TAC forces, but a sudden system seizure made it impossible to continue and we vacated the region.

All known gates destroyed. 2 supply vessels lost.

I will be sending along a letter to be distributed to the brave crews of the lost supply vessels.

-This concludes my report of the jump gate incursion.

***basically right when we felt like we were in a good position to try taking out the remaining enemy vessels in the region we had an error through all stations that locked out the game. Though an early end time meant that we could do a deep strike mission!

 Mission Report Dy-368.6

Post mission report of the TSN Gungnir AKA "The Snackbar".

Still licking our wounds from the Jump gate mission and having completed the letters to the dead crewman's families, we were asked to once again venture long into the dark to regain territory from the TAC.

This would put us deep into enemy territory with support provided by a lone cargo ship. While no mission ever goes by the book, We had done missions such as this before and knew a little more of what to expect. In this case 7-8 enemy stations spread throughout the region surrounded by TAC forces. following procedure we again engaged and eliminated the forward operating Skaraan ships first and then moved onto the stations.

Our basic tactics was to generally fly past the enemy vessels destroying the base with an EMP/ Nuke combo and following up with beams as necessary.

It was long and grueling as expected. The stalwart freighter captain following us to the front line as more and more enemy bases were destroyed.

After a long mission we were successful in eradicating all enemy forces from the region and return home victorious, buying the plucky freighter captain and his crew copious amounts of booze for their assistance.

All enemy destroyed or surrendered. No losses.

-This concludes my report of the deep strike mission.

Not that it was really asked for, but here is the end screen for the deepstrike as well as why we call our ship "The Snackbar"

That was a hard mission. I was thinking fleets of 3 or 4. If you don't get to the gates fast the can be a real problem.

Switch; you did destroy all of the gates but lost all of you stations. You didn't do the deep strike but we'll call that one enemy movement overall.

Notsabbat; you completed both with one supply ship remaining for the return trip, which means you actually seize an enemy sector.... I don't think the TAK will be happy about that and don't be suprises if they put a price on your head!

There are ample tabletop gaming supplies in the ready room. This includes maps, pens, various resource books for various systems, a large supply of D&D and Star Wars figures as well as a few Star Trek models. Space Travel can be long and uneventful; its best to be prepared

Man the snackbar is the pride of the fleet [wink] !

I made a scifi D20 Microlite based on Artemis but I didn't get to play it yet. I was thinking maybe an online Roll20 game or something.
