Station Guides

I always thought we could do with a sticky type thread that would contain the basic guides for each station for new players to find and use.
With that in mind I'm going to post up some of the various material that I've found online, been given, used and made myself. Where ever possible I have tried to link to where the original creator has uploaded it online.

Currently Arranged As:
Helm Station
Tactical Station
Engineering Station
Science Station
Comms Station
Captain
Advanced

Helm Station

Just an observation about Echo mine runs; Attacking an enemy from rear to front means that all enemy firing arcs will hit the rear shields, meaning they alone can be boosted to 300% by engineering providing superior protection. This also means that the forward shields are at full strength for a follow up Delta order.

ADVANCED

There have been a few documents made over the last six months or so but nothing particularly advanced. But I know both of the major groups are working on Advanced Tactics and material. When I get my hands on it I'll add it to here...

No,

The graphics look fine but it can't find the youtube channel for them.

But wait, when I hit the "Post Reply" button, the links now appear to work!  Let me try reloading the page and see what happens!

Weird.

It works now.

Anyone else have issues with the video links loading or is it just me?

I have another suggestion for content though.

Those sheets are appropriate for my consumption (played many times, learning the name of the various engagement tactics).  But I'll be training an entirely virgin crew who won't even know the controls.

Do you have basic cadet level cheat sheets for the various stations?  I do plan to have them watch the excellent training videos appropriate for their stations but they will want a cheat sheet too.

Go to the wiki here. It has all the details you need on stations and cheat sheets on each as well.

I had weird problems actually uploading the videos actually. Took me a long time to sort out. No idea why.

I suppose these cheat sheets are intermediate really. I don't have anything really basic.

I'd just let them watch the vid then play to get some practical experience.

For some reason the female voice in the videos drove my dog INSANE!  She didn't seem to understand it despite no other voice on the TV ever bothering her.

Maybe your dog wants to play? What station did it react best too?

It was mostly just when they started, then she seemed to calm down.... So I guess Helm.

I suppose I have to get her a computer no so I can set her up.  Though if we put her on helm don't be surprised if we spend all day chasing space squirrels.

Sorry that Emma bothered your dog so much.  Ironically, I was working with Emma before Thom released 2.1 with her voice in the game for an Engineering alert.

Really? Finally a name to go with the sexy voice!

Emma's like "Overheat Condition".
I reply "The only thing hot in here is you baby."
All to the music of "It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes..."

I want to start a new thing where we refer to the ship's computer as Emma!?
Engineers upvote!

Back on topic.

I love your vids Badgeguy. Big fan. Hope you don't mind me posting them here? I thought it'd help people find them.

WHAT!?!?!?!??!  You posted my videos on this board?!?!?  They are only on it like in 5 of 6 different places already.  Adding them here, in this thread, is just too much!  I demand that you take them down right now, and in reparations, film your own using only a squeaky voice to replace them!  [wink]

Emma just happens to be the name of that particular "voice" on Ivona's text to voice website.
