so we have eliminated Smartbyte, Direct X, you are running on Win 10, and it should not be a ram issue.

Are you running anything while running these tests that would be RAM heavy? I doubt it but years of tech support in a past life have taught me to not make any assumptions.

Have you tried right clicking the Artemis EXE and running as administrator?

Are you comfortable running the game in a compatibility mode?

Are you a "power user" as in have you adjusted your Win 10 settings or are they pretty much right out of the box?

Any thing else that might be running, like several versions of different Antivirus software at the same time? are you comfortable with disabling any firewall or antivirus (connected or disconnected from the net) for a test of the program, completely understand if you are not comfortable with this one.

Hi. The issues i had on both Windows 7 and 10... however I am focusing tests on the Windows 7 machine just as it's more powerful and I do a lot of gaming on it so know that it's reasonably sound.

Nothing RAM intensive. Artemis was showing at over 1GB when it crashed which seemed quite weighty... but I don't have anything open at the same time. In fact I quash anything starting up that I don't want it to, down to Adobe crap in the background.

I am running it as administrator and tried disabling DPI scaling, desktop composition and visual themes.

Only one antivirus... which is Avast. I can try disabling it... it is one common element on both machines.

I don't mind disabling the firewall, although that wouldn't affect the test of client and server on same machine would it?

It shouldn't, but at this point the game should be working based on the specs you listed, or at least work on one of your machines.

I did try with Avast disabled and Teamviewer and Dropbox shut just to be sure... and it worked for quite a while. I thought ooh potential.

Tried again later, same issue as earlier - locks up and server disappears.

To be honest I've requested a refund from the developer.

Please don't take that negatively I appreciate the support of everyone here trying to find a solution. Trouble is I'm just really busy and with my planned event on Friday I have run out of time.

It is odd... because I have played it at a friend's, and of course you are all enjoying it fine too. I also can't find the Android app which I used when I played at his. And with two separate machines with nothing really in common it's frustrating they both have the same behaviour! I like to think everything logically has an answer, but this one is perplexing.

Thanks again for your help.

Unfortunately, the Android app has been (apparently) discontinued pending the upcoming development and release of Artemis 3.0. Unfortunately this means there is no Android version for the near future, as 3.0 is still a ways away and plans are for the next release to be 2.7.2.

You might try 2.7.2 when it comes out, but it isn't likely to be that different. 3.0 could in theory clear up your issue, as it will be redesigned for more modern hardware.

Ahh that's odd, as the home page says there's an Andriod version. But that makes sense as to why I can't find it.

I will be open to trying 3.0 in the future, and that's where a demo is useful (the demo on the site says it's too old, so I had to go straight to buying it).

Thanks again

At the Artemis title screen, press Alt-F to turn on the frame rate monitor. You'll see a number in the upper left corner of the screen. What does that show?

Start a Solo Siege at level 5 and press "E" on the server keyboard. Don't connect any clients.

Watch the frame rate indicator, and see how long the server runs in that mode.

What other games are running successfully on your server?

That lagging sounds like a network issue. Are you playing on wi-fi?
