Hello, I'm trying to get version 2.4.0 (pc) running as a server for use with ipad and laptop clients. Unfortunately when I run Artemis on my laptop (either as admin or user) I get a black game window then it just closes. Has anyone experienced this and have you been able to successfully run the game? Thanks

No, I have not seen this before. This message doesn't have enough information for me to figure out your problem. Perhaps someone smarter could help.

Can you give us some more information on the laptop? More specifically: CPU? Graphics Card? RAM? Operating System? DirectX version?

I've actually tried it on 3 different laptops with the same results. The first laptop I tried is as follows: Intel i5 - 5200U GeForce 840M 2Gb VRAM 8Gb DDR3 Win 10 Dx 12

It vaguely sounds like you have an incomplete copy of Artemis . . . as if some critical file is missing. I no longer believe this is a hardware issue. I suggest you try a clean download and install.

Unfortunately that still hasn't worked. A little more information though, I purchased version 1.65 a few years ago and that works fine, it however stops launching when I apply the 2.4.0 update. Many thanks Clare

Ok I think I've figured this out, there is no upgrade path from 1.x to 2.x, so although it appears to have been a success it hasn't been. The way forward is to just buy it again..

Yes. The 1.x to 2.x upgrade expired LONG ago. BUT, by buying {again!} you'll get the v 2.0 installer and THAT can be upgraded to v 2.4.0 to work with your clients.

Unfortunately, yes, 2.0 was a rebuild of the game on a different engine, and thus the old 1.x was discontinued and cannot be upgraded any more. There is a 100% chance this will repeat when Artemis 3.0 comes out. There may be a short-lived offer to upgrade from 2.x to 3.0, but eventually 2.x will stop being supported and you will have no choice but to buy 3.0 at full price. (If you didn't already purchase the upgrade) You may want to wait on 3.0 to come out before you buy the PC version. On the other hand, it is not known at this time whether 3.0 will be ported to Android and iOS. It might be best to get 2.0 for the PC so you can run a server for your tablets, and then purchase the upgrade once more information is known.
