i have been modding the vesselData to get more offensive neutral ships, you know adding some of the smaller player ships as civilian vessels

so, in one of the more recent updates there was a change in the Artemis model, so i just pulled the old .dxs and renamed it, and got new stock ship (of the old design) model to play around with.

then, i noticed in the 1.7 manual show the TSN Scout as a different model, but i only have Artemis 2.0 on.

and, i was wondering if
1. anyone had a copy of the 1.7 Scout .dxs, .png, and .srt files (i might want to run this as a player ship)
2. anyone knows if any other player/TSN/USFP/Civilian vessels have been changed
3. if_yes_on 2. could you post .dxs, .png, .srt files

Thanks

I don't see that the Scout has changed from 1.7 to 2.x. It's still the same narrow elliptical head, with a secondary hull behind it, flanked by two halves of a warp engine embedded in each side. You may be confusing the Scout's primary hull with the other ships' rounder saucer shape. But the Scout has always been narrower than usual.

Unfortunately, there have been no changes to the ship models since Artemis 1.3. The enemy Torgoth and Arvonian (originally "Argonian") ships were different than the current crop, but they weren't different models. Instead, each race had the same ship design, but they painted them different colors. The ships also had different shielding and beam layout, so you could bring them back if you wanted some variation.

As for the Escort and Destroyer, originally the Escort model was used for a Sloop, a civilian vessel, and later the original Transport. The new transport models were added, and the TSN design was made specific to warships only. The original Destroyer was also much weaker, more like the Escort.

The only model that has been lost is the Light Cruiser, which has been redesigned to use the new texture. It's much more detailed than the old model, but you can still use that old model, if you can find it, with the existing texture currently used for the other ships. I expect all of the TSN ships to be redesigned eventually.

The original Artemis 1.0 used a different ship model. Let me see if I can find it. I just so happens I have the old demo.

Here's the models from the demo of Artemis 1.0, in a zip file. There's the player ship, one enemy ship, and a base. All three use the texture included.

You can use these vessel definitions from the vesselData file to add these ships to your game:

  <vessel    type="0"    side="USFP"       classname="Artemis"> <!-- type 0 is the player ship -->
    <art     meshfile="dat/player1.dxs"    diffuseFile="dat/shipHull4.png" scale="0.2"/>
    <shields front="40" back="40" />
    <performance turnrate="0.004" topspeed="0.6" />
    <beam_port x="-102.14" y="8.35" z="258.74" damage="7" arcwidth="0.4" cycletime="6.0" range="1000"/>
    <beam_port x=" 102.14" y="8.35" z="258.74" damage="7" arcwidth="0.4" cycletime="6.0" range="1000"/>
    <engine_port x=" 82.93" y="5" z="-240.89" />
    <engine_port x="-82.93" y="5" z="-240.89" />

    <engine_port x="0" y="29.64" z="-300" />

    <shields front="400" back="0" />    <!-- the base has only one shield facing, the "front" -->
  </vessel>

  <vessel    type="10"    side="Kralien"       classname="Cruiser">
    <!-- type 10 and up are enemy ships -->
    <art     meshfile="dat/enemyA1.dxs"    diffuseFile="dat/shipHull4.png" scale="0.2"/>

If you want to use the original Argonian and Torgoth ships for your game, you can use these vessel definitions. Note the Argonian have beams firing in their rear arcs, making it less of a viable strategy to circle around behind them, while the Torgoth have weak rear shields, making it MORE viable to circle around behind them. The Kralien Dreadnought is sort of a combination of the Argonian and Torgoth designs, originally it had no third beam.

Note the textures should still be included in the game. Also, the fire rate of most ships was increased in 2.0, so these ships may be somewhat weak.

This is the ship i was referencing, it's taken from the 1.7 manual. it's missing part of the front that is present in later versions. was this ever in-game or was the 1.7 manual art printed different then the model in the game.

Oh, I see what you mean. I think that's an error in the manual. That missing front part isn't present in the game. (And I still have 1.7, so I can verify that)
