Hey All! I just wanted to share these photos from my first con. I posted them in the Bridge-com board as well in the advice post I had before we started. We had huge success. We had people lined up to play Even at a small local con, we had great interest. We had all age groups playing. Including a 10 year old girl that was one hell of a pilot... when she wasn't distracted by space whales...

Thank you all who posted in my advice thread. All your input made this event the most popular of the con. Enjoy the pics.

Your bridge looks pretty nice and uniform; sorry I missed it. I was quite busy that weekend (including helping run another bridge at Geek Bar in Wicker Park) or I would probably have come out to play. What hardware are you running the consoles on? Looks like giant touchscreens, which must be fun. What do you use as a server?

The screens are just run of the mill acer 21" touch screens. The hardware behind them are gigabyte Brix. They run i3s 8gb ram and a 60gb msata ssd. The server is just my tower from home. The network was a 16 port gigabit switch. And cat 6 between all the computers.

The Brix are nice because they are cheap and if anything breaks you're not out an all in one.

As for the lights. Those are 4 American DJ par profiles. And 2 ADJ Mega Par 64s.

I'm thinking of adding a cryo fog gun. But that might get obnoxious. And a little on the pricey side. I have a DMX CO2 confetti cannon. I didn't bring it out cause of the cleanup. But it is fun when that thing goes off when the ship blows up.

I'm always looking for more ideas. And if you have any questions feel free to ask.

How did you make the casings for the lights?

I'm assuming you're referring to the pylons. I actually found a post by someone here who made something similar. And after a lot of trial and error I wasn't able to reproduce his result. But I was able to get a similar effect.

The bases are Home Depot buckets with the tops cut off.
The panels are the office fluorescent light diffusers. Make sure you get the cheaper ones. Yes they are a little more fragile. But they are way easier to work with for this application.
The panels are attached to 1x2 oak supports in back
And then we just put it all in a bucket and and covered the back in felt.

If you'd like. I can give a more detailed build of exactly how we did them later today. With step by step instructions.

I love the way the Gigabyte Brix become almost invisible. What OS are they running?

Your bridge is very cool.

They are all running win 8.1. I'm having a very hard time updating them to win 10. Some sort of hardware incompatability. It's a known issue.

And if you look closely. You can see them attached to the back of the monitors. They are the little black boxes.

And lots of gaff tape to secure everything to the floor.

Man, those Acer touchscreens are getting more play on Artemis bridges than Marilyn Monroe at a Kennedy convention [biggrin]

Im liking those Brix too. Nice low cost option! I will be looking into those in the future. Those light tubes look great too. Great setup. Ill cross my fingers that you will make it to Artemis Armada 2 so I can play on it myself

And looks like I just got invited to another con next weekend. I'm trying to figure out how to link artnet to my DMX setup so I can start using those holiday coro lights everyone else has. I have some great ideas  I just need to figure out how to make them work...
