Don't know if this question has been posted before, but here it goes:

Playing Artemis tonight with my friends (only 4 people) and normally we all work on one bridge crew. Tonight we tried something different and 2 of us ran one ship and the other two ran another ship.

On the server, we can customize the Artemis ship(Slot one), but we were unable to select the Intrepid (Slot two) in order to customize it.

Is there something I'm missing somewhere?

Thanks,
Gypsyjuggler

P.S.  running version 2.7.0

First of all, remember that you should connect a Mainscreen client for ship #2. While it isn't absolutely necessary in all game modes, you will have no main screen on the second ship if you don't. So you will definitely want to do that.

Second, you should be able to customize the second ship from either the Mainscreen client of the second ship, or the Helm client, prior to the server starting. The Customize control on the server is only usable on the first ship. (And serves as the Customize button on its Mainscreen) Just watch for that button to appear once you have selected Helm or Mainscreen.

You can also customize the first ship from its Helm.

Ryleyra, thanks for that input. It was something we did on the spur of the moment. Our group of four have only gotten together to play five times since we first found Artemis back in November. The second ship wasn't using a main screen screen.

You might want to consider a carrier (or a dreadnought) if you would like to fly multiple ships, as the fighter interface is a lot better for one person than trying to fly a second ship with Helm and Weapons. You can also call up Mainscreen as a separate tab on Helm and Weapons if you don't have an additional laptop to run it on.

I didn't think about that. When I showed your comment to my wife she grinned and said "Next time you run the carrier, and we will do the fighters!"

I have a question about multi ships as well. I am about to start doing cons with tournaments where you can do ship versus ship. Now I have not tried to connect two ships at the same time so I do not know how to do that as of yet. Now what I do know is you use one server computer for both ships if I am correct. Then how would you get the main screen on to the view screen of the second ship? I will have two full crews running so I will have like 14 positions 7 for each bridge. I know the main computer can put up the main view screen but how would I do that for the second ship so they can have a main view screen on their tv as well?

As mentioned above, you want to use a sixth console, the Mainscreen, for the main screen of the second and all other player ships. The server will automatically connect to that console and display the view from that ship.

You can, in fact, connect a Mainscreen for ship number one, if you want to put the server computer in another room or something. You will still need to access the server to set up the game and start it, though. It is really only for convenience that the server displays the main screen of ship #1 by default.

Keep in mind that some sound effects intended for the main screen will only play on ship #1. You may want to make sure it is in a location where it can be heard by everyone. For the most part, this only applies to scripted missions, but it never hurts to play it safe.
