Hello,

here is the situation I encounter with red alert that don't sound only for one of our 2 ships.

 

During a game we've got 2 Ships : Artemis & Hera

 

TECH : 

- 7 computers for ship Artemis (6 roles and one computer dedicated for main screen),

- 7 computers  for ship Hera  (6 roles and one computer dedicated for main screen),

- 1 computer for Game Master

- 2 computers for the Artemis's fighters

- 1 computer for the Artemis Server

All computers are the same model : Asus Rog GL552 on Windows 10 Spring update.

- The router is an asus rog RT AC 5300

 

 

Here the routing plan :

ISSUE :

The main screen of Artemis don't make any sound during red alert.

While all the others sounds are well played : shield, hit, missille launch....).

Allthough The main screen of Hera does it well. The problem is only for Artemis.

I try to switch computers mains screen with the same issue.

 

Note : the Two main screen's computers use DMX interface for lightning. And it works well.

 

Any idea?

What version of Artemis are you running? And is Main Screen for Artemis the server or not? I think Main Screen for ship 1 must be the server instance of the software, or maybe that has changed in a recent update?

Hello, thanks for theses elements.

The version used is 2.7.1

 

We choose to put the server in the game master's room in order to manage the game and to prepare the missions hidden from the players.

 

 

This is why we put a computer dedicated to the first ship main screen (which isn't th server in that case)

If the first ship main screen must be on th server it would more complex to manage.

 

Any other idea?

I am pretty sure that duplicate Main Screen instances of ship #1 DO NOT get the media output for sound and DMX. Only the server gets that. Commodore Erickson from these forums has been asking Thom to put the output on a duplicate main screen for years, and for exactly the same problem that you are having.

I thought Thom had fixed that for Artemis 2.71 but apparently I was wrong. But just in case, take a look at the server's configuration file. Thom might have put in a new optional setting that does what you want.

Thanks for these elements.

 

The stranger thing is that on the Artemis main screen (wich isn't the server) all the DMX lights and the game sounds works well (except the red alert sound: dat\alarm4.wav)

 

I checked the artemis.ini file and the red alert sound seems to be correct.

 

Here the parameters:
