Once again Artemis will have a presence at the World Science Fiction Convention (MidAmeriCon 2 in Kansas City MO). Forum member Morlane will be bringing his excellent Artemis bridge to set up for public play in the gaming area. I will be around to assist him and I will be conducting some scheduled workshops on mission scripting. Please stop by and look for us!

On Friday August 19 at 2:00 PM I will conduct a workshop on writing mission scripts for science fiction writers. No experience necessary. Time permitting participants will play one of my shorter missions.

On Saturday August 20 at 2:00 PM I will review mission scripting and have the formal unveiling of a brand new mission script. I would love to see some experienced players attempt this challenging mission.

This was actually a lot of fun, Mike. I'm glad I got the chance to get a guided tour of the scripting system, and to play the missions as well! (It was also fun tracking down the bugs that were causing various glitches...)

I'm glad you liked it, Starknight. Tracking down bugs using analytical thinking is the most valuable experience.

are there any documents for learning scripting?

are the Mission Editor (2.1.1) and the older tutorials on the wiki still good to use?

thanks!

the Mission Editor has been updated for 2.4.0 and as there where no changes to the scripting system for 2.5.101 (that im aware of) it should be good for that.. you can find it here https://artemis.forumchitchat.com/file?id=2997189

Thanks, Fish. I must warn you that the new Artemis that will be released at Armada III (five weeks from now!!!) will make some drastic changes to mission scripting.

I also have a suggestion. On the server the F7 key can show what script events have been triggered. It identifies them by line number in the XML code, and when I edit scripts in XMLPad Pro the code line numbers correspond perfectly. But if there is a way to see the code line numbers in the Mission Editor I have never found it.
