I would like to see someone take this idea and turn it into a mission, I lack the time to devote to learning how to script right now but am looking forward to doing so in the future.

The war is ongoing, there have been advances on both sides but nothing that has so far turned the tide in favor of a particular side, until now.

PART 1
MISSION BRIEFING:

"This mission and all of the information associated with this briefing are beyond top secret and supersede any current mission or orders you have received. Being the closest ship to the Theta sector, the Artemis is being dispatched to DS2 to aid in the assembly of a new ship. This ship is being assembled in 3 parts so as to prevent espionage by the enemy forces. DS2 is constructing the engine, DS1 is constructing the weapons system, and DS3 is building the hull. You are to transport the engine and the weapons system to DS3 for assembly. Once assembled the ship, code named the Cercopes, will need to be escorted to the Brammon sector. We have picked up increased comms traffic recently and believe that the enemy may have been tipped off even with all of the precautions so be on the look out for anything suspicious."

Mission starts, Comms gets a message from DS2 that the engine has been completed and is awaiting pickup and a message  from DS1 that the weapons system has been completed and is ready to be picked up.

Player chooses which one to pick up first and second, the order is immaterial. Once both parts are dropped off at DS3 a patrol of 4 or more enemy vessels (depending on difficulty level) enters the sector.  The player can engage the enemy or wait. The ship will take 5 (real time) minutes to build. The first patrol (2 scout ships minimum) can be ignored but if engaged both scout vessels will attempt to flee in opposite directions off the map. If the scouts are able to flee, 4 more patrols will arrive in the sector, if none of the scout vessels make it then 1 more patrol will come through the sector their path will take them towards DS3. Again once they are engaged one will try to flee and call for help, if successful 4 patrols of 3+ ships will appear.

Comms will get a message from DS3 when the ship has been completed and a ship will be awaiting the escort stationed outside of DS3.

Comms will get an additional message from the lead scientist aboard the Cercopes advising that the engine requires close proximity to another starship to be able to function and will drain the power from the neighboring ship while being escorted but in exchange will provide a shield boost and beam enhancement. The Cercopes is limited to travel at warp 1, if the linked ship travels faster than that the link will be broken and the Cercopes will stall until the link is re-established.

When the Artemis links up with the Cercopes DS3 will provide extra power for the maiden voyage but not for subsequent refuel/rearming link ups. Traveling at or below warp 1 towards the edge of the map (escorting to the Brammon sector). Just before the

PART 2

The enemy is transporting the Cercopes to one of their starbases for disassembly and study. The scientist aboard the Cercopes is able to get a coded message to the comms officer of the Artemis and relay the ships location. The ship is not as compatible with enemy engine technology and so can only travel under sub warp speed but does provide the same boost to enemy vessels within range. The Artemis must destroy or cause to surrender the 3+ enemy vessels that have linked with the Cercopes then escort it off the map. There are mine field and enemy vessels as well as an enemy base. The Artemis can choose to attack the enemies after recovery or flee.

PART 3
The Artemis is joined by 2 friendly ships(destroyers) who attach themselves to the Cercopes freeing the Artemis to clear a path the DS14 station in the Bramman sector which is swarming with enemy vessels. DS14 itself is in a circular minefield with a single opening and in a nebula. There are several pockets of nebulas in which the Artemis and/or the Cercopes can hide while their energy stores are replenished. the Artemis can also ferry energy between the station and the friendly ships to keep the Cercopes moving.

Mission accomplished once the ship reaches DS14
