Marshmallow Cannon

On a distance world long ago evolved the Marshellowions,

The largest they grow is about 2 feet across they are one of the oldest space fairing species in the know universe, having no one to fight against they did not need weapons on their early ships so they focused in comforts for their large crews.

They were the first known species to develop artifital gravity, which they glad traded for the right to own their own home world,( no rent no involvement in future wars).

Although they love to explore space the biological need they have to be around their own kind in large number prevents them from setting up colonies on other planets.

If away from their home planet over a year even with I very large crew, they begin to suffer from extreme depression and must return home.

Any Marshellowions left completely alone for more than a day or so will lose all will to live and not move until either help arrives or it passes away.

Despite their small size their ships tend to be large in size, a small scout craft hold no less then 100 Marshellowions .  few of their ships have escape pod for the thought of being alone with only a dozen of their own kind is unthinkable.

As they met more unfriendly rases they have kept up with weapon development  as a way to ensure the safty of their home planet, they generally welcome all outsides that come in peace. And are quike to forgive invaders that stop hostilities toward then.

Although they lack any true arms or legs they can form phsodopods  like ameba to control their ships and weapons, since these actions tend to be slow the controls on their ships tend to be too sensitive for other races to use.

Several time other races tried to invade their home world and fail, the extreme numbers of Marshellowions on the breeding rates make over whelming them impossible and since they cannot be alone or even in small groups for any length of time no slavers can use them making them a non-commodity .

They have been known to have killed off one race that refused to make peace with them, but little is known about them as their home world was left utterly barren after the war and the Marshellowions will not speak of the great tragedy.

A Marshellowions  will gladly serve on any alien ship provided at least 30 more are there and the duty is less than one month, their early space exploring ships looked more like colony transports than exploration ships some holding crews of over 1 million.

With increased speeds and shorter exploration times crew sizes have decreased to 1000’s per ship when exploring, but they generally do not plan long missions with so few friends.

They are credited with finding the most races of all space fairers, mainly because they have been around the longest, but often do little more than stop to say ‘hi’ and return home to reunite with friends and family then plan the next trip.

If one could learn all they could about everywhere they traveled many powerful secrets could be learned. Although they would not deny access to that info to any of their friends the sheer volume of information is too great and poorly organized to find much useful data.

That stuff is going to be great! More models means more missions. Item interaction, wander what they could be. Really looking forward to it. I really love how this game continues to grow.

Peace time stuff? Really? Thats awesome. Lot of possibilities there.

I like to offer me as an enemy of Marshmellowions. Whenever I encounter them, they will not survive it. Even if my stomach hurts: They must be destroyed! [wink]

Leaola I LOVE IT!

Do they age? I have the feeling that they measure time differently, a thousand years is the blink of an eye which is why they are never in any real rush to do anything and find the other races amusing because they always seem in such a hurry.

Is that so Newcomerin? Beware the MSN!   No not the chat program; the Marshmellion Stellar Navy!

Going back to the original point of te mirror universe and away from the marshmallows I thought of a possibility. Imagine if the species that uplifted the karrelians instead uplifted humanity. That would be an interesting mirror. Karrelians wouldn't be a space fairing species and who knows how humans took the intervention. Would, like te karrelians, we claim ownership of the galaxy. Or would we have a different type of faith. Or would we not have any faith at all regarding them and instead decide it's our solumn duty to sprea that knowledge throughout the galaxy. Thoughts?

Wow that's a great idea Captain. Something I never even considered. Probably a mission plot in there too. Something for the RP community. The captain beams back from the station but is swapped to be the evil captain from the mirror universe.

@arrew. Well not necessarily evil. Just different. Humanity wod have been in space longer and developed much differently. For example an extremely religous captain or a more peacefull captain. In fact if we deeme it our responsibilty to uplift others after being uplifted we could have uplifted the karrelians in the mirror universe and they would be staunch allies. So this mirror universe isn't necessarily an evil empire just completly differnt. (Possibly evil if you really want that)

Just thinking of Captain's idea...

So the transporter malfunction happen and now you are on a ship, that never, ever want to fire his weapons cause (nearly) all humans and aliens live in peace. You have to negotiate your way through any cases and loose if you kill someone. THAT would be a good mission for comms! [wink]

The thing is novels and movies all revolve around conflict. Have you noticed? I wander what that means about the human psyche?

Even in Star Trek we try and make a utopia and then have to put in peril or war or we get bored.

Will humans ever be able to live in peace? In our current forms probably not.

Humans lifted up first would still be violent if not more so.

Kind of funny idea that the TSN are evil and Kraliens are the good guys.

Could be fun mission if you could change the player ship to be a Kralien. The Kralien resistance fighting the Terran Empire. The player in the resistance or something?

Even if you couldn't change the players ship you could do a similar plot, just the Kralien resistance has just captured a Terran Empire ship. But how would you explain the whole bridge crew from this dimension being there?

That is easy!
If you want diplomatic relations you have to know veeery much about your formal enemy. If you want to negotiate peace you have to send someone the others can trust. So you biomedical-engineer your ambassadors as human (did you see the film "Starman"?) and give them a terran ship.
Set-up complete. [wink]
