Hey all, here is a video that I made at the request of a fellow player.  In the past I helped him get Artemis going at his game store and he liked the storyline, history, uniform and such that I use for my group so he asked me to make a intro video for the library game day he is holding.  I wrote a quick script to get the players into the immersion of the event and voiced it in front of a green screen and had a student work up the video for me.  I think it came out very well!

It can be found at this link  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B--ydz_cHObWZ0VrZ250NjdmV0k/view?usp=sharing

HAHA! THAT WAS AWESOME!

Loved your green screen work. Was that the starship troopers music?

Thanks! Yes. That was the Fed Net March used for the background music.

It really seemed to fit well. I now it's like a fight for survival but where he said about the reason why we fight isn't necessarily important with that music, I thought you could make the TSN a bit dark with that if you know what I mean [biggrin] .

Feel free to use it!  I hope that it can be of use to more than just the library I made it for!

Correct.  Ever since I first played this game I had to justify why the heck we were always fighting at odd of 30 or more to one.  It didn't sit well with my understanding of how wars are won.  TSN ships can reduce a total fleet of more than 30 enemies single handedly but the enemy just keeps coming.   So I had to come up with why the hell we would be fighting with 1 or 2 (or five) ships all of the time and not an overwhelming number and just knock them out of the fight.  I came up with the large numbers of enemies (the TAK) going against a single race, the Humans with few numbers but superior tech.  So the idea of a single, heavily armored and powered attack ship going it alone to take the fight to the enemy.  The TSN would then be the aggressor(despite being attacked in the first place) in order to simply stay alive.  I don't have a specific timeline or canon other than what is done with Mike and Thom's stuff.    If someone wants to join in a help flesh it out, I welcome the help!

The other reason I made the video was so I could wear my uniform!  Not much opportunity for doing that in normal game play!

If you find a way to use it at Armada, feel free!  I know the names can't be changed at this point, but that might not matter.

Yeah, that was always a concern of mine, too, even with Super Star Trek that started the genre. I mean, obviously you want to play the "hero" ship, which was the Enterprise in Star Trek, but the Klingons needed to be mind-numbingly weak to allow you to single-handedly stop an invasion. I felt they probably needed to be fighters or Orion Pirates, or something like that, with maybe one or two Klingon ships positioned for a one on one battle.

As for Artemis, I just figured the Kraliens were like the Zerg, you know, they reproduce really quickly and can easily replace manpower, so it's just a matter of assembling cheap, quick to build ships. Plus, for them it's a holy war.

At least you can design more balanced missions for the scripted mode.

BTW, I have watched the video, but with sound turned off since I'm a work. So it looks nice, but I can't comment on the rest yet. [smile]
