It's not really a story of battle or daring do. More often than not engineering is left out of the more dramatic aspects of battle. But I do want to share what happened to me today.

So we entered a sector with a lot of gravitational anomalies that caused an unusually powerful time dilation effect (which is what the RP Group calls lag. I love that. May use it outside of Artemis! And since I have been playing with them it’s the first and only time which is pretty good going in my books.)

Our ship was affected and were heading for a black hole.

Being in engineering I cut power to warp and impulse and the ship drifted to halt just short of being destroyed.

We did loose the front two decks. Jimmy and two others from one of my engineering teams were in there and didn’t make it out in time, which is a tragedy. But at least we didn’t loose the whole ship.

Just something that I wanted to share and is also worth other engineers knowing in the event other ships suffer time dilation affects that lead to collision courses with black holes or asteroids.

He who controls the power controls the ship after all [wink] .

P.S. If you have thought about giving the RP Group a try definitely do it. I was worried they would be too strict but they seem pretty friendly and forgiving. [biggrin]

@arrew. Glad you enjoyed yourself. That time dilation was unusual. We have been expirementing with pushing our systems to their limits. We have found general safty thresholds but a system like that throulws all of our knowledge off.

Anyways, glad you enjoyed serving aboard my ship. It was a pleasure to have you aboard.

That's what I am there for. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
