Folks,

I haven't played in a while and the version I have is 2.6.  I have the 2.4 installer and the 2.6 upgrade.

But I see various threads about 2.71, 2.72 and 2.6 downgrades.

So what is the most recent, stable version?

I've been getting ready for a game at a friend house and my laptop is crashing.  Or rather, Artemis is crashing.  I just get the windows message that the program has stopped working.

So is 2.7 the go-to version?  2.71?  2.72?

I believe 2.7.1 is the most recent "official release" version. Stability-wise, it's about the same as 2.6.

There have been two beta releases after 2.7.1. The first was 2.7.2, and there was another 2.7.25 shortly after that. 2.7.25 is still undergoing beta testing. The code involving stations and Skaaran elite abilities changed. On the procedurally-generated missions, after 50% of the enemies has been eliminated, a second wave of enemies (usually Skaarans) appears. The games tends to crash at the higher difficulty levels around the 30 minute mark. If you play at difficulty 3 or lower, or you're using a mission script without Skaarans, then it's "mostly stable".

Thanks.  I'll go to version 2.71.

Still a bit worried though since my server is crashing 3 or 4 minutes in every time.  I thought it might be the DMX stuff that I'm setting up, but DMX is "fire and forget".  So if there's a problem down the chain, the computer shouldn't care.

What version of DirectX are you using? What's your graphics card?

(Most of my issues with running Artemis tend to boil down to DirectX or the graphics card.)
