The ship models are made in the 3d editor of your choice, then exported as a single texture UV mapped .obj file (and associated .mtl file). Textures should be power of 2 square, like 1024 x 1024.
Once you've got the .obj, you can import into DeledCE - a free game design focused 3d editor. Make sure it loaded properly, then save as a .dxs file (Artemis uses this as it's native format).
It's probably a good idea to check it in tree Ship Editor program that is in the Artemis Downloads section, partially to make sure the textures loaded right (sometimes they need flipped), partially to make sure it's pointing forward, and largely to make the internal file and pick out weapon and engine points.
For the rest, I've started a Mod FAQ that hopefully answers some more of your questions: https://artemis.forumchitchat.com/post/mod-faq-7499583 __________________ Note - this is in no way intended to be an official position of Thom or Artemis, as I am not an official representative of the creator or game.
