It's great to hear that people are interested in this mod and willing to help. For the most part, we need help getting our hands on Honorverse ship models. This has been a very frustrating dead end so far.

If you want to help, let me know what your strengths and weaknesses are. Were would you say your help is best employed? How much time would you be able to spare and what would you most want to see in this mod (besides canon-friendly missiles)?

I'm sort of a jack-of-all-trades, in that I'm not particularly and expert in anything, but dabble in everything.  I design for 3d printing, programmed off and on for a long time, and such.  Can devote 5-10 hours a week if we have a good team involved.  Played around with a battleship STL file and got it in Artemis (without a cool skin)

We are currently preparing for an annual convention this June (6/8-6/10) in Hamburg, Germany, the same convention where we have showcased and by now entertained well over a thousand players since we started in 2014. This year was the first time we tried to get an Honorverse mod going, mostly because I love modding and the majority of the rest of the team is made up of the German chapter of the TRMN fanclub.

To be honest, we had already given up getting the Honorverse mod ready for this. With you on the team I'm still not sure we can make it happen since we have just over a week to get stuff done, but at the very least we could begin work for next year.

What we need is ship models for all of the following types:
  • Light Attack Craft (LAC)
  • Frigate (FG)
  • Destroyer (DD)
  • Light Cruiser (CL)
  • Heavy Cruiser (CA)
  • Battlecruiser (BC)
  • Battleship (BB)
  • Dreadnought (DN)
  • LAC Carrier (CLAC)
  • Super-Dreadnought (SD)
We had resorted to just trying to get our hands on even one of these and then rescaling it to make ends meet. However, if you could work your way through this list, we should be able to put together an early Alpha testing version in a couple months or so.

Just for transparentness, I didn't model the battleship that I used.  But it's not really that complex of a model.  I saw your PM and will respond, but wanted to clarify here.  I will start with a CL, I think and see what I can come up with.

Where are we at regarding the TRMN mod?  has there been any traction on this?

Yes and no. Spectre Gadget has been busy putting together a few models. As of this point I have 2-3 of the 9 we want, but I've also been busy with other things in the past few months. I put together a vessel data to run a prototype but ran into several problems that crashed the game, some of which I have yet to figure out how to solve.

Over the next month or two I should be able to put together a work-in-progress prototype that doesn't crash the game but helps with balancing and finalizing some of the design choices regarding the numerical values within the vessel data.

Why do you ask? Are you offering your help or just keen to play the mod? [wink]

EDIT:
Also, please note that this is hardly going to be an TRMN mod. If anything, it will be a Honorverse Mod, without pro-Manticore bias; or possibly a IAN Mod (with the RMN being a playable faction) because it was the German chapter of the TRMN (who depict Andermani Empire) who helped with a lot of the ground work behind this mod.

I would love to help, but I dont' know anything about graphics editing or things like that.  we have a convention coming up later this year where David Weber will be at and it would be cool to see if we can get him on the bridge and run the mod if it is playable by that point.

I'd like to jump in on this as well. I am a bit of a jack of all trades. I am retired IT and can do most anything... it takes me longer but as I said I am retired so... I have the time to spend on it right now. If there is anything specific someone would like me to work on, I'd be more than happy to help. I would say that if someone has a half-done project if they could send me what they have done so far (files, notes etc.) I'll take a swing at it.

I have contacted Spectre Gadget but haven't heard back from him yet.

The situation is as follows:
  • Spectre Gadget made a few models and sent them to me sometime last year, namely a light cruiser (CL) and a battleship (BB). They're relatively low res but work nicely for what we have in mind. I've been using one of them as a placeholder while tinkering with the vessel data and .ini files. Ideally, we want to have one model per ship type (LAC, FG, DD, CL, CA, BC, BB, DN, SD, and CLAC).
  • There is some documentation on what we want to do with the mod, mostly concerning beam weapons, but there seems to be a problem since we decided to switch from 2.7.1 to 2.6 (essentially to be able to make torps faster and tinker with their damage output).
  • I used the 2.7.1 vessel data file as a basis for what we're feeding 2.6 (this is after accounting for all the changes between version I could think of) but ever since the change the game crashes very inconsistently. Sometimes it's the server/main screen that crashes, sometimes it's one or more of the terminals, sometimes it's a combination of both. Sometimes the crashes occur when you start the mission, sometimes they occur after a couple minutes of play. I've brought in some friends of mine who do QA in real life, but we haven't been able to find enough consistency to build a theory as to what's causing the hickup. Essentially, I'm going to have to go back and start from scratch with a vanilla 2.6 vessel data file.
If you're still willing to help, shoot me a PM with your real name and email address. What we need most is ship models (including texture files to make up for the different factions) and some fresh thoughts on the vessel data and .ini files, as well as someone to help me code (or rather, debug) it all. General insight, especially if you are well versed in the Honorverse, wouldn't hurt either. Once we have a working prototype, playtesting would be greatly appreciated as well.
