Hello everyone,

I purchased a bridge license a couple years back to use for a communication workshop at my work. I am attempting to set up Artemis 2.5.1 using PlayOnMac and 5 older Macbook Pros (2012 era). I would love to run Windows, these are company machines that I don't want to put personal money into them.  The big problem is increasing lag with every machine added. Right now, I can only manage 4 stations + server before the lag at helm becomes unbearable. 

The server is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2 GB, Intel Iris Pro 1536

I am using a wired Gigabit switch with Cat6 cables. Any suggestions on how I can add more player without increasing lag time?

I've run PlayOnMac for testing and it worked well, but I haven't tried it in a large LAN.

What kind of lag do you see? Low frame rate? Press Alt-F to display a frame indicator on screen. It should be 30 or higher for best results.

Does the Helm radar view "jump" as the ship is turning?

Does the main screen show the ship turning OK?

Did you set the network update speed on the server? After you select Solo/PVP/Co-Op/Scripted game type, click the Customize button and set the Network Update Speed to 100ms, or less if PlayOnMac (and your network) can handle it. That's the rate at which packets are sent to each client.

All that said: my PlayOnMac testing was with v2.7.1, not 2.5.1. Maybe try applying the update?

Looks like its fps issue on the older Macs.  The intro graphic runs at 30fps but once I select a position and it dips to 12fps!  Are there some settings that anyone knows about within PlayOnMac that could help?
