Hello, a small group of people are working with the Red Hill Public Library to put on Artemis games once a month. The location is fully accessible and everyone who wants to join in is welcome to do so!
There is no entrance fee, though unfortunately we are low on spare laptops so if you have your own please bring it, the game can be played off a provided USB stick.
We are hoping to be able to team up with other local libraries to be able to have games in other areas of the city, this is the flag ship attempt!
First game is this Tuesday, Sept 17th from 5pm until 8:45pm.

Will do, we are partnering with the library so the room is provided, saving us the rental fee and letting them advertise it as part of their community events.

We had a great night last night! Had a few new people who walked past, asked some questions and then joined in for a game or two. Some friends who had stopped playing came out and had a great time. Dave came out and showed us some of the ideas for uniforms in the 42nd fleet, took photos with his fancy camera and even managed to join in for a few games.
We had a few technical difficulties... my laptop decided to act up and force an update that finished 10min before the start, another laptop refused to work with the server and im still not sure how we got it to work in the end! Once laptop crashed mid game so there was no science for a little bit, but communications did their best to fill in.
Library staff were very helpful and let us use their projector for the main screen and popped by to check on us throughout the evening. The room we have is on the path to the washrooms so many people saw that we were there, we didnt have a poster to put up so many of them didn't know they could come in. We are now putting some helpful words on the amazing posters that were commissioned for everyone to use, so next game people will know they can just walk on in.
Excited to see how it goes on the next game day, October 15 from 5pm-8:30pm.

Second game was today. Had two people return from last time, a new person come in and captain a game and another person poked their head in to see what was going on. During the slow start we tried a scripted game mode that turned out to be a demo game the is infinite. Was a good chance to practice running multiple stations at once while waiting for everyone else! With the full group we had some great games and lots of fun. Our experience helmsman decided to hug a mine without proper shielding thus ending one game a bit early for the person captaining. They did get a rank of Admiral so they were amused. “We survive and are civilian, we die as admiral... Is this a speak no ill of the dead type thing?”
Looking forward to the next game on Nov 12th!
Thanks to Dave Trihn for the amazing photography, the impressive volleys of all the bombers firing at once, and supporting us as we get started. (Lights glow green when docked and was the only time when he could safely get up and take pictures.)

That looks like a great group!

I assume you were playing the Attract Mode script? That is supposed to allow you to just start the game and run leave it running, but it can be used to train players.

Last night we play tested our chosen ship for a 42nd fleet game. A skeleton crew should probably not choose Juggernaut jump drive as their ship, but we made it work. The science officer only goofed the math once and jumped us into a mine field. The weapons officer quite enjoyed the massive beams and being able to load 4 nukes at once. We are looking forward to playing a game with 7 other ships on dec 15th.
Sadly the winter weather of snow and cold reduces the amount of people who come by the library so only one new person poked their head in, curious but didn't want to try.
