Hi all,

I know that e4mafia and some others here have mentioned previously that they will be at GenCon. It looks like I will be there this year after all. I think it would be fun to get together with the other captains, crew, and/or bridge builders here since we'll be in town for the con. How about getting some beer and pizza at Bazbeaux (329 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204) after the exhibit floor closes on Friday? Let me know if you'll be at GenCon and if you want to join.

I can probably do that. My daughter may be less than thrilled about hanging out with yet more of dad's nerd friends.....but she does like Artemis. So I think I can get her on board with a pizza stop. That is a little far from the convention center, but for that time of day, its probably better to get farther away. I'd planned on getting a table at Webber grill that day, but I can move it to another night. Its one of my must do's of Gencon. Love their meatloaf. The timing should work out for us. We're playing Sentinels of the Multiverse RPG from 2-6 at the stadium. Will probably just grab an uber and head north to meet you guys. I dont mind the walk but the crowd will be bonkers trying to get through.....and I'll have to will my way past a lot of those yummy food trucks šŸ˜‰

Speaking of pizza and Gencon - funny story. My first year there, we're sitting in the lobby near Maryland st. and somebody is walking around handing out pizza flyers. I don't recall the name of the place, but I do remember that their BBQ pizza said "so good, you'll slap yo mama". Which made me laugh. There's another story from the lobby that year that I'll save for sharing when we meet up. Its just too creepy. (GASP! somebody being creepy at a convention? </sarcasm>

I will be at Gen Con.  I am free at that time but traveling with a group.  Will see if I can make it happen to stop in and join you or at least say hello!

So how will we find each other, should I be able to make it?

thanks!

notsabbat, e4mafia, Longbowman1346,

Glad to hear you will be there! I am planning to start gathering at Bazbeaux about 6:20 ~ 6:30 Friday. I will PM all of you with my cell# the week of GenCon.

For visual reference, I will be wearing the following TSN work jacket (and generally trying not to make too much noise near the vents):

Sorry that we couldn't make it. We were busy running laser tag in the stadium all day. Swing by next year and introduce yourself!

I did not. Hannah and I played on the "USS Gencon", which was a physical bridge instead of laptops on a table. It was a wooden frame and panels painted silver, with screens mounted in the panels and attached desk like stations. The main screen was a 40" or so TV. I guess I was expecting a much larger view screen. Perhaps the underwhelming feeling comes from having my expectations being higher than they should have been. It was more than laptops on a table. So a 2 hour session, costing $2 more than 2 x 1hr sessions of lappy's on the table isn't bad, all things considered. Overall we had fun, although in the second run through we changed captains from me to a younger teen. Several of the crew got distracted into their phones in the long silences between interactions with the captain. Which dilead to its own funny results. <ship taking fire> "Hey weapons, you wanna put your phone down and shoot something?". The whole bridge had an out loud laugh. Sorry I didn't any pictures
