James you should start a Patreon. A lot of artist do that to help fund their projects.

Have you thought about having actual access panels, as they have in Star Trek TNG? Some magnets would allow them to be removed, just like they did in the show. It would be a great cover and maintain the immersion if you have to come in and do actual maintenance on something by removing the labelled access panel.

I remember thinking though, with no mechanical system for holding all those panels on, surely the first power-failure/ torpedo impact and some poor soul has to wade through the Enterprise corridors, replacing all the panels that fell off?

I suggest using strong neodymium magnets on the panels - then get a set of suction-cup style Dent Pullers or Floor Panel Lifters to pop-them out for added realism.

Now you know what would make it more immersive? If you put buttkickers under the floor and in the walls so the entire ship tremors when those darn Arvonian fighters pummel you (with the help of a Torgoth ship or two). The ideal ship would be if you could get the whole building to tremor or move while getting hit, but that isn't very feasible.
