I am seeing all the past posts are still at http://px2owffng8.tal.ki/.  At least they are for me at this time.  If anyone else is able to get there, maybe some copy and pasting could be done for those threads that they found useful.

Yeap, it's there.  Is there anyway to back it up?  Maybe from the admin?

I wonder if they'll have a nice explanation at tal.ki to say what broke. *checks*

Nope!

So, I wonder if this curl script would be considered a DOS attack as it crawls the old forum... *evil grin!*

It would be helpful if we had a tab to take us back to the Artemis home page from the forums.

Hi everyone !

It will feel like a weird first post :) Great game by the way !!

I was playing the game for the first time with my brother, we loved it !! But as beginner we seeked for help on some things we were trying to figure out from all thoses screens :) But sad gamers we were when we saw the forum was down :(

Anyway that's not the point of my post.

In some way I think I could help with your forum problems / migration :) It all depends on what is available from tal.ki we can extract from the database.

It's kinda my job to take things from one system and put it in another one ... matching all fields, missing default infos, etc.

So I'm pretty confident I could import all those posts from the old forum if you are willing to, without having to copy / paste everything by hand and preserving the author infos.

All I need in exchange of it is a lifetime supply of Artemis ... oh that's already the case :P

Like I said, what a weird first post lol

I for one see all of this as blessing in disguise.  Tal.ki was terrible.  It was keeping me away from the site, away from updates (because Facebook doesn't always bring the news to my feeds), and away from participation.  So a catastrophe like this is sometimes the best motivation to cut and run and go to something better.

I think it's great that folks are finding clever ways to bring important information in from the old forums' caches.  But I also see a wonderful opportunity for fresh info, fresh participation, fresh players' names and faces, and updating all of the once-great info that had gone stale.

+1 for clean starts.

Mirror of old forum:

I copied (I think) all the data from the old forum, for people that want to re-populate the new one:
http://davr.org/artemis/forum/px2owffng8.tal.ki/

The smartest thing would be to write a script that auto migrates that, but that requires a competent webmaster/sysadmin and I'm not sure Thom can afford to pay one right now? (seeing as how we moved from one no-name 3rd party forum to just another no-name 3rd party forum)

Good job for the cached version ! Seems to work great.

As for the 3rd party forum thing ... that was a question I was asking myself, why using them ? Why not host one directly on artemis web site's servers ? It's a lot more secure ...

Anyway I'm looking at a way to parse everything from your cached version, is there any way I could get it in a zip file ? Let's not work double :)

Thanks !

Hi,

The "helpful information" page of the website (http://www.artemis.eochu.com/?page_id=160) has a "Forums" link that still points to the old forums.

Does anyone have sufficient admin control of the old forum to lock it against further edits? Some folks have managed to stumble upon it and posted there recently.
