Folks,

In some other threads we were talking about adding other bridge stations that looked like Artemis  stations but where just for role play.

I've worked up a simple web interface that looks Artemis-ish and lets the user bring up various graphics by pushing different buttons.

I loaded up Artemis and got button-ON and button-OFF images from taking screen shots.  I'm not much of an artist, so...

VERY simple.  Also very easy to change around for your own purposes.

Be advised that the download (a zip file) is over 40 meg.  Most of that is from animated images.  I've included a bunch of animated gif images for the bridge station to  display.

http://www.fist-law.com/images/Artemis.zip

There's the link.  Download it if you like and have a look.  There are only three actual code files.

Artemis_main.html
Artemis.js
Artemis.css

All of those three files are  pretty light.  It's just the images...sheesh!

If you have any ideas for improvement,  I'd be happy to  hear.  But feel free to make any improvements you'd like on your own.  It's just a matter of tweaking some web code and simple code at that.

Enjoy!

Dave

P.S.  That web site is my seldom used martial arts blog.  If you want to, feel free to have a look, though it's not really Artemis related.

Looks really cool! As an experiment, I took one of the 8MB gifs and processed it with

https://cloudconvert.com/gif-to-webm

And that one animation is down to 1.1 MB, and I could not see a significant degradation in visual quality.

Cool!  I just pulled those gifs from the Internet.  Didn't try to modify them.  I'll give it a try!

Very cool idea - and one that would be easy to modify to include items which might be relevant to a mission.  Even if the console isn't being used, as mentioned it could be used to give "wow" when used in a bank of displays.  I've been collecting discarded displays and fixing them (usually bad capacitors) so I have a bunch of 4:3 aspect 15-17" monitors.  One computer just showing web pages with F11 full screen could run several displays.

Thank you for sharing!

Glad to help if I can.

One other thing I was thinking, but didn't include in this VERY simple app is this:  A modification could be made where a game's GM could send messages or images to this fake console.  In that way it could really add to the RP by being an extra communication console or provide RP related scanned information.

That would mean the GM would also need some kind of simple interface.  But it could be as simple as something that allowed typing text or moving an image around.

If someone wanted to get really fancy (more than I want to do) a skype (or similar) interface could be added with someone else RPing elsewhere as another ship captain or the command center or even an enemy.

Do you have this In any kind of source control system? Like GitHub? I would be willing to contribute to this, make some changes if you'd like.

No, I just hacked it up quick.  As I said earlier...only three actual code files.  One HTML, one CSS, one JS.  I'll upload them here without the images so they aren't such a big chunk to download.

The attached zip file contains the three files in their appropriate directories.  You'll need to add the images in an /images directory on your own.

Feel free to make whatever changes you like.  If you come up with something good, post it back here so folks can use it!

Thanks for the interest!
