I have a confession to make: I have a new crush!

http://dreamflightadventures.com/dfa-2-0-pre-release-testing/ is the open beta for Dream Flight Adventures 2.0, a bridge simulator targeting educational audiences (ages 8 thru high school).

It's a very different beast than Artemis. If you've been wanting to have a more educational spin to your spaceship bridge missions, or do some heavy RPG game-mastering, Dream Flight Adventures is worth a look.

Just had our first home LAN party with DFA: I'm working on an after-action report. The newbie player response was very good, so much so that I'm seriously considering using DFA for my daughter's upcoming birthday party, in addition to Artemis!

Heh. Now I need to convince Thom that we need a "Technobabble Filter" slider in Artemis.

Wow, this looks great. If I had kids in elementary school I would totally ask their teachers to get this set up. Most class rooms use tablets instead of books.

I was going to post more about DFA, but thought it might be more appropriate to post on my bridge site rather than commandeering a thread!

See https://www.ltebridge.com/dream-flight-adventures-first-look/ for my LENGTHY wall of text!

Quoting:

"With no apologies, DFA targets a different market: it’s an education-focused RPG storytelling engine wrapped in a sleek starship skin. An RPG Game Master aka Flight Director leads crews into an immersive, thought-provoking storyline using a variety of real-time tools and has 100% control over the entire simulation."

"The main viewscreen graphics got “Ooo” and “Aah!” responses from our test crew. Sample pre-built starfield backdrops, our solar system, an animated warp star field, and rocky terrain suitable for planetary “landings” are all included in the base package."

Thats a great review. I look forward to trying it out, especially since it has a built in GM screen.

I read the review. Thanks for that. It answered a lot of questions. I might actually get this game downloaded and invite some kids and their parents over to play.
