I'm trying to use the direct command to move a generic mesh under Artemis 2.2. But it does not seem to move the object. The direct command was "fixed" so it would not work with other objects, but it is intended to work with the generic mesh. Am I missing something?

Has anyone had this same problem?

Darn it, I figured as much. Oh, well, I implemented a workaround until 2.2.1 is released.

I can confirm that the Direct command for generics was broken in the last release but will be fixed in the next release. That should be soon, I hope.

I received a new beta copy from Thom last night and I can confirm that the Direct commend for generics will be working properly when you receive it.

There are a few other improvements, too, including a tool to look at the brain stacks of monsters.

That's great. I also noticed that you mention that drones work with side 2, which I hope means that ally ships can have drone launchers now. (Currently, when an ally ship fires a drone, it just sits there. [biggrin])

This will be great with my Strike Force Seven mod. As I said, I have a workaround, (for both generic meshes and drones) but when 2.2.1 comes out, I'll be able to make it work as intended.

I'm sure other mods would benefit as well. I'm not sure looking at monster brain stacks is helpful unless you can edit them, but it should help with debugging. And I'm looking forward to seeing what other mission improvements are in there.

There may be one exception to what I said. Drones do seem to work for allied ships in mission scripts, except possibly when the drone's target is a monster. I need to mention this to Thom so he can fix it for the upcoming release.
