This lack of information, on their own contest, is really frustrating for those that made the effort to submit an entry...

They posted an extension on Facebook to July 1st for submissions (on July 1st, which seemed kind of pointless), though not here, which arguably the "contest" rules didn't allow for. I wouldn't be surprised if they push back the review period 11 days as well, making it what July 26? But there is also a post somewhere that it will be announced on the next Starfleetcomms podcast (which is not out yet).

Lol, that's even more frustrating! If they'd have posted it here I could have made an updated modification to my entry!
I'm guessing you submitted an entry as well?

Nope. I have freely shared my projects, thoughts, and ideas here and was unwilling to let them become the "sole property of Incandescent Workshop, LLC." opening the door for me to no longer be able to use my own designs. Folks asked for clarification on that earlier and it was never given. I get paid to run bridge simulation games at conventions (not just Artemis) so not being able to use my own design is not a risk I was willing to take.

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned about that myself, since my submission was an adaptation of my own bridge, downsized to fit their space.

So, was the contest nullified?  Can we please be updated on the status?  Thank you.

As far as we know they are still compiling results. Starfleet comms was supposed to make an announcement but they said they had no info yet.

ponders legal questions...

contest rules state in short, we own entries in return we give prizes by along time ago.

by breaking stated rules does this mean the writers of the contract can't own the entries?

I didn't read the original, however, legally speaking that would make sense as the original terms of the contract are broken by one participant. I personally wouldn't make a bug issue of it but.....

leaola,

Keeping in mind I've got no legal background, I'd wager it will depend on if you accept anything at this point when they do get around to it. If you win and accept the reward it would imply you have no problem accepting the modified dates since that happened prior to receiving the reward.

If you win and reject the prize or loose and receive no prize I imagine you end up in still muddier waters so to speak but at that point I'd say its probably a toss up.

Just an FYI, the entry rules and requirements at the top of this post. Do not provide or define any means of changing stated rules. So one can only assume the entry rules are the only rules in this contest.

Furthermore

There is no information as to compensation or recourse should contest runner fail to provide said awards.

It also does not define what the outcome of the submitted designs, that they have taken ownership of, should the contest fail or never be judged on.

It also does not even define any term or length of time one would need to take for any legal action against the organizers.

It also does not have any liability clauses in regard to the organizers of the event.

Unless all of the entrants received some addendum to the contest rules defining that, this should be an interesting thread to watch.

Honestly I can't understand why you would want to own all the submissions? I can see rights to the top 3 or 5, but why all??

Seems as though Thom either completely forgot about this, scammed the community, or was trolling us... I hope trolling us...

Also, unregistered? Didn't know you could post without an account...

Edited for clarity.

Thom (techbear) has had nothing to do with this thread whatsoever.
