A TSN scout ship has been flying at about warp 1.3 for 87 hours, it is in sector (3191,-2). Ship efficiency is above 100% and all systems reports green.

I'm not sure what will end this deep space mission, either a server crash, or the Twitch service terminates my account because I've been streaming since Tuesday, or the crew onboard dies from some unknown cause and we can't fix any of the system nodes.

No matter, you can watch this ship traverse our galaxy online through the twitch stream this weekend.

The Artemis (Scout Class) is now in sector 16,253 by -3. They are coming up on day 21 in this deep space expedition. All systems reports green, ship is flying at warp 1.4, crew is healthy and the ships is now outside of the extremely hot plasma zone.

Watch online... https://www.twitch.tv/tsnartemis

Hi David,
The code on github looks like it is just the transition code. Is there a way to get the more developed code with sample sector generation?

I believe the transition code is the entire mission. There's no sample sector generation, the sectors are all empty. (Which, to be fair, is skewing quite close to "realistic" for deep space.)

We don't currently have a sample sector generation coded. I mean, I could throw a simple one together if you really needed something... some random nebulae, random asteroids, but it would be different every time you went into the same sector.

I have suggested to Thom to add something to his random system generator code that spits out a seed we could use to generate a similar sector, but it's not very high on his "features to implement" list. (Although I will try to see if he can add something like it to Artemis 3.0.)

Maybe I misunderstood the code and development notes. Doesn’t it add 1 to x or z to denote the new sector? (Out of the 4,000,000,000 options or whatever it was.) I thought the idea was that any sector can thus be pre-defined with x, z variables and “ship does not exist” as the triggers.

I’m wanting to hand sector generation over to my teens at the library, so that I can put all that code into a single base mission file. I am just looking for a sample sector generation and destruction to be certain I understand it correctly.

(The notes talked about timers for transitioning to distant sectors, which I did not really comprehend.)

Sure, if you look at one of the tree branches, it should have sample of some fixed creation code and destruction code.

For example: Flora and Fauna

The story we were telling can be found here from a RP point of view.

I have thought about an explore mode, integrating this idea into the API I wrote that generates random missions.
