Hi,

Last time I played Artemis, I had a laptop running a data screen on it's own, so we had an additional long range scanner permanently open. We left it running and didn't touch it, and it kept coming disconnected during the game, so we had to keep re-connecting it to the simulation.

Is this expected behavior? Do consoles time out if there is no input for a specified amount of time, or is this a fault?

Thanks,

Dan

This is not expected behavior and consoles do not time out (within the Artemis software). I've left a bridge with consoles connected to the server for days without a disconnect or a crash.

I'd say your problem is either with Windows or your laptop's wifi adapter. I know I've got a laptop whose wifi was rock solid in Windows 8 but has become unreliable under Windows 10. I wish I knew why.

I think this is because its trying to save energy. See if you can adjust a power setting in your adapter.

Thanks for this, that narrows it down to a problem with the laptop. If all else fails I'll just use a really long Ethernet cable.

Thanks,

That's a good point, I'll try that first
