A while ago, I decided to try my hand making a mod. Since then, I've ended up with multiple mods, and been managing a couple threads...and a lot of links spread through the threads. So, I've decided it might be a lot easier to put all of the mods and links in one place. Welcome to:

cxfAtheus' Mod Locker
the new home for cxfAtheus mods

WSD Mod
Designed to make Artemis ships rely more on teamwork in battle. This mod adds a slew of new player ships (with their own new models and textuers), each with their own strengths. By cooperating, ships can combine their strengths to overwhelm the enemy...which is good since the enemies have been made MUCH harder. Kraliens are no longer bumps in the road, and Torgoths must be approached with caution. All enemy ships have a new look courtesy of SolCommand.com. Skyboxes have also been replaced using 2K images simulating our own galaxy. This mod changes the look and feel of Artemis to make the game tougher and more cooperative, and improve the look and feel of the game.

To install: Download WSD Mod and unzip. Drag contents of the zip file (art folder, dat folder, and other files) into the root Artemis folder.

Click HERE to download the WSD Mod file

WSD Mod Solo Ship
This file is made for the crew operating only a single ship. It still includes all of the upgrades in the WSD Mod, but does not increase the difficulty of the enemies as much. This requires the WSD Mod to be downloaded and installed first.

To install: Install WSD Mod (see above). Download WSD Mod Solo Ship file. Drag the vesseldata file into the artemis/dat folder.

Click HERE to download the WSD Mod Solo Ship file

WSD Mod Graphics Only
Want the look of the WSD Mod without changing the gameplay? This is the mod for you. This contains all of the new ship models for enemies and friendlies, skyboxes, better asteroids...and replaces the original player ships with new models and textures.

To install: Download WSD Mod Graphics Only and unzip. Drag contents of zip file (art, dat folders) into artemis root folder.

Click HERE to download the WSD Mod Graphics Only file

PLEX Mod
Designed to expand the role of science and add more possabilities for roleplaying in siege mode games, the PLEX (Planetary Exploration) Mod adds about a dozen types of planets to the game. Initially unknown, they can be scanned by science officers twice, which will tell the type of of planet initially, then give stats for the planets. The five bars that show beam frequency can be used to give data about the planet, such as Frequency A shows how breathable the atmosphere is. To make the planets fit the game, the PLEX Mod also increases the play area to be 5x bigger, meaning it takes 5x longer to get from one side of the map to the other.

To install: Download PLEX Mod and unzip. Drag the contents of the zip (art, dat folders and artemis.ini) into the root Artemis folder.

Click HERE to download the PLEX Mod file

WSD PLEX Mod
This is the whole smash. All of the new ships, graphics, and difficulties of the WSD Mod, combined with the 5x larger play-space and planet exploration roleplaying of the PLEX Mod together in one downloadable. This will completely overhaul your game. Combine this mod with a sandbox for a massively expanded Artemis experience.

To install: Download WSD PLEX Mod and unzip. Drag the contents of the zip (art, dat folders and other files) into the root Artemis folder.

If there are any problems or requests for special versions of the mods, now's the time to make them. Between now and August, I'll have a good amount of free time and I enjoy putting this stuff together.

Because if I right click the Artemis 2.4 WSD line, I get this, and doing "Save as..." offers me to save an .HTML file.

I'm not sure what browser you're using, but with Chrome, left-click on the mod. It should bring up a window. At the top of the window it shows a download button (arrow pointing downward). artemis download.JPG
So, basically, left-click on "Artemis 2.4 WSD Mod Graphics Only" instead of right-click and it should give you the download option.

Hope this works for you. If not, what browser are you using?

Yay !  With your help, it worked !!   [smile]

Sorry, first time using Google drive, I use Dropbox personally.
And that downward arrow wasn't the most obvious thing to represent "Download"  [smile]

Can I ask you a technical question ? If you have a minute...

your mods are awesome. I enjpyed the WSD mod quite a bit and look forward to playing with the PL-EX mod as well.

have you ever thought of doing a steam punk mod? basically replace all the ships with Zeppelins and the fighters with bi-planes? It would be a hit at the Steam Punk cons and if anyone could do it, you can.

Longbowman asked me about steampunk and if a mod would be doable. I'm pretty sure I have the know-how to do a large portion of it, but there are a few parts I'm not so sure on.

The hardest part is finding a large collection of models that are pretty much ready to play with their textures already done. I still don't know how to texture/UV Map...I just know how to apply what's already been done. You have to find sets of models for each race (so they all look similar within the race)...and you have to find enough different sets. It's a tough proposition that comes to down to google-fu.

The other big part of it is the graphics for the buttons and screens. I'm sure they can be found and swapped out fairly easily...I've just never tried it.

Steampunk is definitely possible*

*I think...maybe...yes?..perhaps...

know what though, I think the buttons and stuff will be ok. I think as long as there are airships on the screen people will love it. Ill just have to make up some techno babble about rocket engines instead of warp and ion shielding or something.

Anything I can do to help?
I may be able to put money towards it if the models need to be purchased; though not much

Hello again cfxAtheus, sorry I took 3 days to come back to ask my questions. Had some real-life things to take care of.

Ok here are my few questions:

1- What are skyboxes ?

2- Can I have multiple Artemis installations on the same computer ? Like, if I want an Artemis directory for the vanilla version, a second DISTINCT Artemis directory where the files have been modded, and perhaps a third one that runs Artemis 2.3 ? Would there be a problem ?

3- Let's say I install Artemis 2.4 WSD Mod Graphic Only on the server, do all the consoles plugged with that server need to have it too ? What happens if only part of the linked computers have it ?

Thanks  [smile]

If I may:

1. Skyboxes are a cube with textures that line up seamlessly at the edges. This cube is wrapped around the play area and makes the spacey background we play in.

2. Yes. Each installation can be in separate folders. You can actually just copy and paste the entire installed folder to a new location and each will operate separately.

3. I'll defer to cfxAtheus, but if it's just the graphics it should only technically need to be on the server.

Thank you Markbell !

Concerning point #3,

If however that mod (which only affects graphics) is only installed on the server, it should only affect the viewscreen, right ? Because if players (who haven't installed the graphical mod) click their "Visual" button, they should see objects that use the standard graphics, right ?

Yep.  All rendered graphics on a particular machine refer to local art files.
