Note: The mission script is available here: The Battle of Hotblood's Tail.

This mission requires Artemis.2.3.109 or later.

Below is the first video of Captain Dranoel and the crew of Juggernaut Gungnir as they bravely fought the Battle of Hotblood's Tail. This video depicts the entire mission so you might want to play the mission before watching this video.

Mission Name: The Battle of Hotblood's Tail
Mission Timeslot: Friday, April 8, 2016 at 7:00 PM with debriefing to follow.

Tactical Overview:
The TSN and Ximni forces have reached a stalemate on the front lines. Both sides have been amassing enormous fleets in a sector nicknamed "Hotblood's Tail" (an astronomical phenomenon in the area resembles a horse's tail). On one side are three well-armed TSN bases, on the other are one Skaraan base, one Torgoth base, and two Ximni bases, each housing several squadrons of capital ships.

Your veteran crew has been assigned to test the TSN's new flagship, the prototype Juggernaut, recently christened Gungnir. You have the unenviable job of managing a very complex set of powerful ships (including friendly Arvonian carriers) and numerous valuable resources. Your ship includes fighters so we expect your hottest pilots to be ready for action at a moment's notice.

For the moment all is quiet on the Ximni front. But If the stalemate is broken, Hotblood's Tail will erupt into the biggest, bloodiest battle in galactic history.

Strategic Overview:
Your job is to protect friendly resources while destroying enemy resources. Every enemy ship or base destroyed will reduce their forces available later in the war. This will be reflected in the final climactic battle Saturday night. Every friendly ship or base that you lose will weaken the TSN forces available in that same battle.

Naval Intelligence File:
(Captain's eyes only. Share with your crew at your discretion on a need-to-know basis.)
Your escorting force includes three fast destroyers. These ships are fast enough to be very useful in defending the Gungnir but they are the smallest ships in the sector and cannot stand up to the firepower of enemy capital ships. Deploy your fast destroyers carefully.

Operating from an adjacent sector, the enemy propaganda broadcaster who calls herself Torgoth Tina will attempt to demoralize your crew and your allies by broadcasting news of any friendly ships that you lose in combat. If any of the Arvonian carriers is lost Torgoth Tina may talk all of the Arvonians into surrendering. This would be a terrible blow to our alliance.

Aside to Captain Dranoel:
This battle is similar to the WWI Battle of Jutland. where British forces were commanded by Sir John Jellicoe. Before that battle Winston Churchill famously quipped "Jellicoe is the only man on either side who could lose the war in an afternoon."

You are in the same position as Jellicoe. If you screw up this battle the war will be lost.

These are awesome! I didn't expect them so quickly! I hope this means once all the stuff from this year is posted, we'll soon be able to see all the stuff from last year too?

Great videos.....though truly the least flattering angles ever recorded onto film.

Yes, the camera angles this year are not flattering to the human eye. I'll need to makeup something canonical, like the videos were shot by an alien who believes human eyes distort reality. He takes it upon himself to distort the world back to his viewpoint.
