Which missions are best to start with, I downloaded a bunch of those packs.
Also, if any of them you'd say only do if more than 1 ship, please say.

Also, what would you say about difficulty with like, how different is 6 to 7.  6 felt easy, 10 we got creamed, but it also depends on the mission (10 deep strike destroyed us).

Most of the mission scripts out there were written for a previous version of Artemis. The current version is 2.7.5, and was released about two months ago, so there aren't a lot of missions out there specifically written for 2.7.5, although the code is similar enough to 2.7.0 or 2.7.1 that any mission written for 2.7 should work without problems. When you go back to 2.6 or earlier, there may be structural changes in the code that might require some troubleshooting.

So when you say "those packs", I'm not sure which missions you mean... if it's "Artemis Mission Pack 2015.03" that you're referring to, or missions from the "User-Created Missions" page on the Wiki, then... I haven't been through those yet to see which version those missions are compatible with. You may encounter some missions that don't work properly with the current version of Artemis.

Difficulty 5 is good for a "warm-up" or "shakedown" with players already familiar with the game. For new players, 3 is probably a good place to start. For most groups I've played with, difficulty 7 seems to be popular. I've been playing online with the Eastern Front for the last few weeks, and we finally beat a difficulty 10. At the higher difficulties, you need some luck with the placement of stations and lethal terrain. I think we tried a couple games at Difficulty 11 and... it did not go well.

When it comes to scripted missions, the difficulty usually doesn't matter. Most mission scripters don't pay attention to difficulty, or don't want to put in all of the considerable effort it would take to put in all the code to adjust for difficulty. So it's very likely the mission scripter just used difficulty 5 as the default and didn't worry about it after that.
