Thinking about the gun mask {elsewhere in the fora...} made me think to ask for a Beams Ready indicator bar on the Weapons screen.  Maybe just 4 dots to indicate recharge status.  {Red, red, red, GREEN!}  There IS a function similar to this when Auto-Beams is off.
Thoughts??

An interesting idea. I'm not sure if it is needed, after all, beams fire automatically as long as Auto Beams is on, but it might be nice to know how soon a given beam is to being recharged.

You would need to indicate it per beam though. The Dreadnought beam cannon has a different recharge rate, for example.

Ryleyra - not the firing, but the recharging is where I'm going with this.  An "over-eager" ENG may reduce the energy level as a conservation measure, leaving the beams in a slow re-charge cycle.  Weapons should be able to detect this.

Good point. It runs the risk of getting the Weapons console even more cluttered, but a combination of recharge indicator and separate Arm/Disarm control for each beam system might give Weapons more to do. I can see a Battleship captain ordering a beam held in reserve so it is ready to fire the moment a drone comes in range.

This would also solve the issue of whether there should be a separate control for Auto Fire and Arm. Disarm all beams and you won't fire at a targeted enemy, without having to switch to the Gun Camera.

Upon further review, it occurs to me the Weapons can switch into AutoBeams with nothing targeted.  that would bring up the beam re-charge cycle inherent to THAT screen.  #GreenIsGO#LoveMyBKey
