The group of people that I game with in the real world and I have taken the plunge into building a bridge set. As we're all old professional in our other lives, there is perhaps far more time being spent on the planning stages.  :-)

Fortunately my girlfriend isn't interested in the project management side of preparing for the game, but wants to PLAY NOW!!!

  • Stage 1 [Complete]: Test run of gear on hand was a success. Enough packed away, 'outdated' gear for a full bridge and then some.
  • Stage 2 [Complete]: Clearing a space and setting up a very generalized environment that isn't just laptops on in the living room with couches.
  • Stage 3 [Pending]: Test run in new environment.
So far the two ship's cats are enthusiastic about this project. The basement has always been an exciting place to explore, and now there is lots of room to run and things to climb.  Best of all, their favorite people (any people in general :-) ) are there.

Oh, and why Akagi you ask?
  1. My house is tall and grey with a *very* long driveway on the wrong side for normal aircraft carriers.  The Akagi, her sister ship and a Italian aircraft carrier had their towers on the wrong side.
  2. Years ago I ran a Battlestar Galactica based game using Savage Worlds.  I made up challenge coins and patches.  Cheaper if I purchased them in the 500 quantity level.  I still have several hundred of each left.
  3. I casually wear around a military styled jacket with Battlestar Galactica stuff (patches and rank insiginia).

Pictures to follow as I remember to take them.

My gang continues to slowly make progress, the bridge looks more like a plate of spaghetti than a fully functional warship. Various missing power supplies have been located, along with extra monitors and computers -- the land of lost toys is very large in my basement!

I've come up with a few mods to the monitors to give better visibility to the main screen -- I've got the parts 3d printing and they should be ready soon.

Oh, I picked up some lumber and power drops to modify the back wall partition.  Now I just need my electrician friend's assistance.

Your bridge (or perhaps CIC?) sounds amazing, Senjak! So do your cats. I think I need to arrange a visit some time. [cool]

Oh,

And this is the patch for the group in the basement.  Sadly I'm down to only about 250 of them :-)

Battlestar Group 41 was the BSG that the Battlestar Valkyrie was attached to during the Great Cylon War.

And what ship is complete without challenge coins? They were originally purchased to use as Savage Worlds bennie tokens.  I have slightly less than 700 of them.

Ahhh, "Red Castle", recommend avoiding combat near areas named "Midway".  -->  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_aircraft_carrier_Akagi
