Millennium Falcon - Update

Progress on the Millennium Falcon has been somewhat slow.  I'm pretty settled on the model I found at http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/puo-4036-1699.html and the model came with a really good texture.  The problem I'm running into is that the texture is provided as 2 separate files, but in order to use the model in-game, I need to combine them into 1 texture file.

Once I figure out how to do it, I'll post a bit more of a tutorial, but for now I'm currently learning about UV mapping and working with a program called Blender -- all of which are very new to me.  In the meantime, I figured I'd post a screenshot of progress thus far.  Stay tuned!

My usual approach is to combine the two texture files into one double sized file - texture 1 in the top left, texture 2 in the top right, blank across the bottom.  Deled can pretty quickly adjust the UV scaling and location of each object, so remapping to the combined map is pretty quick.

Oooooh, nice!  No worries, always happy to help.

This is flipped on the X axis, though, right?  I thought the cockpit was on the other side...  You can mirror the objects in DeleD pretty quick without needing to adjust the texture maps.

Have you tried the new ship editor Thom released?  Amongst other improvements, you can click on the back half of the ship.... [smile]

Blender is the app that someone recommended to me so I could edit the ships. I'm mainly using the Mac OS. But I had a hard time converting files to DXS. What steps do you have to go through?

You need to use DeledCE to convert from (typically) .obj to .dxs - AFAIK it's the only program that uses that format in particular for 3d files.  DeleD is free and should have the .obj importer built in; if not, the plugin is free to download as well.

They've got a beta "in browser" version as well, if the download version doesn't work.

Millennium Falcon - Complete!

So, I finally finalized the Millennium Falcon, complete with SNT file so it can be used as a player-driven ship.  I'm pretty excited about how it turned out.  You can download it below, but here are some screenshots.

Ha ha, sorry about that.  Never uploaded a video to YouTube before -- should be public now.

I had a goal date set for Labor Day (today) to release the Star Wars Mod to the Artemis community.  Still not completely done, but thought I'd 'release' what I had as a sort of a sneak-peek pre-alpha.

There's a Game Master Guide word document that gives tons of details.  Open to any feedback you may have.

Enjoy!

a little over a year later, I wanna thank you for releasing this! I'm currently updating it for 2.6 and editing the story to fit within either official or Legends Cannon. You laid a FANTASTIC ground work!

@FeMonky Hey, thanks!  If you're able, please post the update after you're done with it.  That'd be awesome!

I'm not good in the ways of modelling or programming, but I'd love to help develop this mod further in any way.

I'd love to be able to stage full on battles between the Rebellion and the Empire.
