I was rather frustrated when I made the post, due to all the issues I was having, what I really meant was I was going to follow up on it and not just let it stand as is.

Hi all, I'm trying to prepare for my first Artemis game in a few years. My bridge will not have enough laptops, so I am hoping to get set up a game w/ either iOS or Android tablets for science and comms. I updated the laptop version to 2.4.0 as instructed.

I already had the iOS app so updated and tried it out. It worked OK, but disconnects every minute or two (boots me back to console choice on the iOS tablet). I've already got port forwarding set up properly (if that wasn't true I imagine it wouldn't connect at all).

Since that failed I tried buying the android tablet version and connecting, and this time it failed to connect entirely. I've tried my internal IP (192.168.x.x) as suggested on the server and even my public IP but from the android tablet nothing works.

Have others had success connecting to a PC running 2.4.0 w/ the latest android build? If not any guess as to timeline for some form of tablet compatibility (either iOS or Android)?

Jaundice, probably not the answer you want to hear, but we decided as a crew to just go with laptops only. Anyone with an extra machine is asked to bring it.  It's just so much simpler than rolling back versions.  That said, I understand there is an Artemis 3.0 on the horizon (which in space is very far away) that is supposed to have both mobile and PC compatible versions.

That makes sense, and it's reasonable, but since I already rolled back the laptop I feel like I should at least have the option to play with folks on mobile! And I really, really like the touchscreen experience for comms and science! I have a touchscreen laptop but most do not.

I was able to get the mobile client working with a different laptop hosting the server, so it must have been a network it other setup problem on my end.
