I actually downloaded the latest version of the TNG mod locally before starting any of the installations, and pointed mod loader to that version:  https://dl.dropbox.com/u/80470054/Artemis/MOD_ST-TNG/ST-TNG_V2.rar

I am very new to mods in Artemis so I wasn't sure at what step I could try substituting the AMLfile (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/80470054/Artemis/MOD_ST-TNG/ST-TNG_V2.aml) if that makes sense to try. Thanks again for all of the hard work on the mods, and for help figuring out what is going on!

In case it is relevant I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

2 things: the latest mod file is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80470054/Artemis/MOD_ST-TNG/ST_TNG_V_2-0.rar  and the latest .aml is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80470054/Artemis/MOD_ST-TNG/ST-TNG_V_2-0.aml

Neither seem to work with the current mod loader  Check the mod thread for the latest versions, but RussJudge will be taking a look at the compatibility issues later.

Both TMP and TNG mods now fixed-- v. 3.0.22 of Artemis Mod Loader now ready.  If it doesn't auto-update, please download and re-install.

Few things - The DMXCommand.exe doesn't load when I try to run it - just immediately goes to "... stopped working".  Running from the loader worked ok.  Also, I like the Device error check, but it'd be nice to run the DMX Commander without one attached.

Also, apparently the board changed all the forum addresses, so the links don't work [tongue]

Well ain't that just a peach!

All web site links for each Mod now updated to the new one that the Forum made them to be--hopefully that won't happen again.  Now on v. 3.0.23.

Also got the v. 0.3 updates for the DMX Commander in place.  Also, as noted on the thread about the DMX commander, the issue of it not starting is fixed.

In an earlier post you said when installing Artemis and your Mod Loader, 1.7 could be kept as a mod to 2.0.  I'm not sure I installed correctly.  The OS is Windows 8 64 bit.
I completely uninstalled Artemis.  Then I installed v1.7. Next I installed AML.  When I ran AML, I got a pop up saying: "An update to Artemis has been detected.  Do you wish to apply that update to the copy that Artemis Mod Loader runs?"  I clicked "Yes", and found "Base unmodified Artemis v. 2.0" listed as an installed mod.  The next time I ran AML, I got the same pop up and it added "Base unmodified Artemis v. 1.7" to the Installed Mods list.  When I run Base unmodified Artemis, it runs v 1.7.  And as expected when I select either mod Base v. 1.7 or Base v. 2.0 it runs the correct version.

Having both base versions of Artemis listed as mods to the installed version 1.7 seems a little redundant, so did I do something wrong?

On a side note, where do I point my Logitech joystick profiler to when I start Artemis with AML?  It's looking for an .exe file.  When I point it at the Artemis.exe file and run the base unmodified Artemis (no v 1.7 or v2.0 mod) it doesn't work.  The joystick acts with no keyboard mapping. I can only use the stick and buttons 1-4.  I get the same results when I point the profiler at the AML .exe file.

Thanks for making the update! Sadly it still isn't working for me. I first tried the auto-update, then a full uninstall and reinstall from the latest installer. When I install the TNG mod (from the latest file downloaded to my PC) and try to activate it, I get an error:
MOD Definition is INCORRECT.
Path "C:\Users\Jon\AppData\Roaming\Russ Judge\ArtemisModLoader\InstalledMods\23FB12E0-AB1E-4493-83C8-A946DC44C47F\dat\Mods\ST_TNG\UI" was NOT FOUND in MOD package.

then another:
MOD Definition is INCORRECT.
Path "C:\Users\Jon\AppData\Roaming\Russ Judge\ArtemisModLoader\InstalledMods\23FB12E0-AB1E-4493-83C8-A946DC44C47F\dat\Mods\ST_TNG\LCARS_UI" was NOT FOUND in MOD package.

then a third error:
The expected folder structure for this Mod does not exist. Please make sure you have installed the correct Mod package to the Mod you selected.

I tried one more uninstalled and reinstall, this time deleting the entire Russ Judge folder from my AppData in-between, with the same result.

EDIT: I tried the install from web option, and it worked! I still got the third error above about the expected structure not existing when trying to activate it, but the mod is working now. Thanks!

@EnsignRedShirt:
If you want the base Artemis to be v. 2.0 with no v. 2.0 as a Mod but have v. 1.7 as a Mod, then do this:

First uninstall Artemis Mod Loader.  Delete the folder "c:\users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Russ Judge\Artemis Mod Loader".

Then, uninstall Artemis and install v. 1.7.

Re-install and run Artemis Mod Loader.  This will set up 1.7 as your base.

Close Artemis Mod Loader and install Artemis v. 2.0, then run Artemis Mod Loader again.  This will set v. 1.7 as a Mod with v. 2.0 as your base, with no mod for v. 2.0.

@jaundice: the problem may be that you installed the wrong version of the rar file from your PC.

Thanks Russ!  I knew I had probably done something out of order.  That did it.

And I figured out how to get my joystick profiler to work with AML.  I didn't realize AML makes new copies of Artemis and runs it from that folder.  Everything is working great.  Also, I can use the Engineering Preset manager, so I'm playing engineering more.  I've been playing with the AI controlling helm & weapons, so I can practice.

Love it!

Good news - the forum changed the addresses again!  Just a heads up...

Well ain't that just a peach.

What is that all about, anyhow?

I'm thinking I might try to set up a webpage somewhere that will automatically forward the link to the correct place--that way I won't have to keep updating Artemis Mod Loader when the links change.  Just gotta figure out where...

Hey Russ, any thoughts on configuring your mod loader to work with the Steam version?  I had a friend load up the Steam version of Artemis and he was trying to configure the mod loader to work with it with no success.  He's going to play with it some more later but, any ideas?

All that the Mod Loader needs is the directory where Artemis is installed.  Unfortunately, since I've never used Steam, I don't know what Steam does about installing apps.  Assuming it just creates its a folder for Artemis, then all you'd need to do is point the Mod Loader there when it prompts for the install location of Artemis.

If someone can tell me where Steam dumps the Artemis install, I'll add code to the Mod Loader to make life easier for those who install through Steam, or at least hope to.  I will need a person who has installed through Steam to be my guinea pig for me.

It'll most likely be in program files / steam / steamapps / common

Steam can be installed and moved anywhere.  Artemis goes under steam\steamapps\common\artemis by default, but you can also install Steam on one disk and some of your games on another if you like.
You'll probably be able to poke around with the game in there, but if you mangle it up too much, it might get "repaired" back to standard next time there's a patch, or the user runs a consistency check.  There's probably a more elegant solution than what AML has used in the past.
