Just took a few fighters out for a spin.  Pretty cool concept. I even like the Blackjack idea.

A strange and possibly a non-issue I ran into was that in order to play try this out, I was playing by myself, with four sessions--one main screen server, and 3 clients, one for helm/weapons/science/comms/Engineer, and two that were fighters.  Since I have a joystick, fighters would not let me use WASD, and since helm was also mapped to the joystick per the controls file, whenever I fired beams from the fighter, the Artemis jumped to warp speed--which was a bit of a comical problem.  It was also an interesting experience in that it was possible from the fighter's perspective to get lost.  If the fighter didn't have the science console or help from the Artemis, it would essentially be lost in space.  And with 3D space, I sometimes had trouble locating if Artemis were up or down from my relative position.

Having two clients that were fighters also gave an interesting side-effect.  Since both fighters were mapped to the joystick, they flew synchronized when I launched them both.  When I took them against an enemy ship, they did successfully attack synchronized like this, basically doubling their firepower.  Of course, this was only useful if the fighters were launched close together.

When will the iOS version be updated to be compatible again with 2.3?

Got a computer, a tablet and a phone.

I can play 2.1 on my tablet and phone.

But the computer on 2.3 can't join in.

I would not hold your breath for a release of 2.3 on iOS or the Android. Thom has made it clear that all of his attention at this time is devoted to preparing Artemis 2.4 for use at Artemis Armada. Maybe once 2.4 is tested at Armada and released for the PC, then it is possible that he will turn his attention to Artemis for Android and the iOS.

You've been using Artemis 2.1 all this time on iOS, even though 2.2 was available on the PC. 2.3 was almost not released. I would consider 2.2 and 2.3 beta versions for now and wait for 2.4.

Yeah, we've been using 2.1 because it was the newest available, not because we *want* to be stuck playing the older version.
If 2.2 and 2.3 are to be considered 'beta' versions for some future version, maybe they should be labeled as such to avoid the confusion, and indicate to people that iOS/Android aren't *actually* 2 (eventually 3) versions behind the latest PC release?

The version that was running at Armada II was 2.3.109.

Thom said that he will very shortly make it available, this probably mean's that he took notes over the weekend and will adress any little issues he saw and then we will get something beyon .109

One thing he explained to us about the new numbering system is that if the two first digits are the same ie: 2.3 then the last three IE: .109 shouldn't matter too much.

We tested this using 2.3.0 vs 2.3.109 and there were a few weird little ui and ai issues but the game was not crashing so that is something.

A lot of the changes in the 2.3s are about mission scripts and adding new player ships.

From what I've seen 2.3.109 is MIND BLOWINGLY good.

Any chance that the menus on the GM screen will be a bit shorter so we can fit more in on lower resolutions?

The size of the GM menus is determined by the mission script writer. For the time being, you write a GM module with a specific computer in mind for the GM. If your GM wants to use a smaller computer you should re-write the script.

I think Thom will change this before the website release.
